Last year, I did a little crop on my own and it was amazing. Would any of you DSP'ers like to get together for a crop that live in the Maryland, DC, or Virginia area? If you are close by, you are welcome to come. I am going to start getting the details together for a date and place. Last time, I did it at my house, but if alot of people are interested, I have a few ideas of a meeting place that are readily available.
What do you think ? I know there are alot of us on DSP.

ok great. I have been calling around so I have a few places in mind. Even if only a few people are interested, we can still do it.
:)
If you know any fellow metro area dsp'ers, spread it around to them.

Well, we all start out "new". :) What software do you currently use? I use Photoshop CS3.

I'd love to meet some of you later on. Right now I am having pc problems and learning PSE 6. Sorry not to answer back-I've been out of town lately.

Just saw this today. Horrible schedule for May/June, but depending on date and where abouts I might be interested.

I just recently have gotten involved in digital scrapbooking with Photoshop CS4. I saw this thread and thought I'd investigate. Did you all start any digital scrap groups in the DC, MD, VA area? I live in Gaithersburg, MD and would love to join a digital scrapbooking group.

Lisa, let me know if you're putting together another crop. If I have enough heads up time (I didn't see this last spring) I can get to DC metro area. It'll be nice to see the area again.

Is anyone interested in starting a digital scrapbooking group in the Md, DC, VA area using Photoshop that meets monthly? I'm totally hooked and have only gotten into it in the last couple of months.

I didn't get one, but it would be great to do. There are alot of great places to do photo walks, too. Maybe now that this thread has been bumped up, we can start working on an actual date. :)

Great idea! Anyone interested in setting up a date to start a digital scrapbooking group in the DC area? I have a 12 year old, and a 10 year old and I'm behind in my scrapbooking of all their pictures. I used to do traditional scrapbooking a few years ago, but now that I've discovered digital, I'm hooked!

Gee, I would totally be interested in any of the above! I live in the central MD area and am willing to travel to the DC/Northern VA area, if need be. I would also be willing to help out getting things organized. Please PM me if you need help, Lisa.

Anybody have any ideas on where would be a good place and what time? I have a 12 yr old, and a 10 yr old, but I would make sure I could fit this in. After all, digital scrapbooking is my sanity!

I guess it depends on if we want to do a crop or a photowalk or even alternate between the two. When I lived in DC I loved just grabbing my camera and wandering around different neighborhoods.

Well, for one, DC is really the greatest area for photography. My dd and I go quite often. The national harbor now has the "buried man" statue. I am not sure of it's real name, but my daughter loves him. I think it's zeuss or something. There is a fabulous hotel there, too, called the Gaylord. It is absolutely amazing decorated during the christmas season. We had a party there at one the restaurants december of last year. As fas as doing a photo walk, that may not be the greatest location. There isn't alot of "DC" to see from there. We could possibly meet up downtown at the corner cafe right across the street from the lincoln monument. From that location, most everything is just a short walk away. Going down the path in front of the lincoln monument takes you to the veterans memorial, then to the national monument (the big pencil as my dd calls it), then to the mall, which has TONS of museums and statues along the way. There are also subway stops, if you need a break from walking. Other places (in walking distance, but not so close by) I like to visit are the Ford Theater and Pederson House (where Lincoln died). There is a hard rock cafe right down from these two places. My dd likes to go to the Jefferson Memorial and ride on paddle boats. There is the aquarium and the spy museum, but these two are not free. All other museums are. I also like to visit the Iwa Jima monument, but it isn't within walking distance from downtown.
If you all have any suggestions, post them. Also, let's start tryin. to pinpoint a few dates that we could work with.

There is definately more than one days worth of photowalks in DC. The area near the national zoo, Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle are all good places. I remember working on a project when I was in school and we were photographing stuff near the National Building museum. I used to work a Union station and that area is great as well for photography.
There are some nice things up this way too. I know Longwood Garden has beautiful displays year round. I think we've been there during everyone except fall. And of course Baltimore has it's share of places to photowalk.
Maybe if we could set up a schedule of crop get togethers and photowalks, maybe every other month wouldn't be too bad. I know everyone has obligations so not sure if monthly would be do able.

I vote for spring! I can't do any more travel (other than the trip that is booked! :D) until after the new year...
Do you think you can wait that long? ;)

We can't wait until spring, but we can get together for another one in the spring. I will be going to school and working, so I can't commit to that time. Scamp, don't you live in TX?
I am also looking for digital groups, conventions, etc. I live in CT - there doesn't seem to be anything in my area - I would be willing to travel a bit if it's convenient. Keep me informed!
May even be interested in DC....my husband is a pro photographer!

I am near Philadelphia PA, but would be interested in a gathering in the DC, MD, VA area (wouldn't be the first time I went to the area just for scrapbooking :-D )
