05-07-2009, 11:52 PM
Congratulations Janetklmyour Hellebore colour scheme has been chosen for this months colour scheme. :applause:
Start making suggestions for backgrounds please...
05-08-2009, 06:58 AM
:yippee:Thanks to you all for voting on this scheme.
The longer I look at the colours the more I'm thinking about a romantic kind of kit, but still keeping that Mother's day theme in my head.
:think:Linen textures and lace's is what's comming up in my mind right now.
Just a few suggestions:
- Linen textured background
- Herringbone textured background
- Using the third colour as the backgound colour and adding handpainted/doodled flowers in the 2 lightest colours (does that make sense?:))
- I'd like to see the Hellebore flowers on a Victorian style background.
(I love those beautiful old bedspreads and wallpapers).
Can't wait to see what you all come up with!!!

I'm still jumping into new things here at DSP so even though I've done a few of the other challenges where WE tell the designer what we would like to see, this particular challenge is new to me....so I'm going to just jump right in.
With keeping the mothers day theme in mind, what about one of the darker colors as a background with painted on childs handprints in the lighter color. I know that every year for the past 2 years I have gotten a card from my youngest son with his handprint on it for mother's day.
05-08-2009, 07:33 AM
Also maybe try to incorporate those leaves somehow into a background.
05-08-2009, 07:53 AM
White flowers on a green background
Green background with stripes of lighter colours
05-08-2009, 08:47 AM
I'd like to see one of the papers made to look hand make..
like with pressed flowers embedded in it..
Or like hand made - like one of the medium greens - and use the lightest green to make like rice paper...
And An overlay with a floral border
05-08-2009, 10:10 AM
I like the leaves idea I would love the lightest green background with dark green leaves. Either doodled or a brush but I would love to see it stay very graphic.
I also love the linen background idea
05-08-2009, 10:13 AM
How about a vintage lace pattern backgrd. Very elegant and cool.
05-08-2009, 11:23 AM
Love the idea of handmade paper look with flowers pressed in. Maybe a fade BG wiyh the top three colors, too.
05-08-2009, 01:18 PM
With keeping the mothers day theme in mind, what about one of the darker colors as a background with painted on childs handprints in the lighter color.
Oooooh! I like this!
But I think perhaps light with dark handprints, instead, or maybe one of the mid-shades with light *and* dark handprints

Awesome ideas ladies as i'm at the gold coast crop at the moment:yippee::yippee: getting these ideas underway may be a bit delayed but you can bet I'll be on to it ASAP. Thank you and keep them coming :tup:
05-08-2009, 02:55 PM
Well, since you are delayed...
I think there should be a White to Yellow flower with a green Leaf element... Similar to a dogwood or more yellow ...
And, maybe a trellis for (I know dogwoods don't grow on trellis) but something for the flowers to grow up on
I've seen lots of fences... but not many pretty trellises
05-10-2009, 09:12 AM
We need a crumpled paper background in the darker color and a lacey background in a very light color (keeping the green scheme. And maybe some velvet ribbons and bows in greens and yellows
05-10-2009, 09:32 AM
Hmmmm. . . now that I'm home, and not at work, looking at that lovely swatch. . .
how about a solid, a lineny texture, in that lightest green?
A faint harlequin with the 1st and 4th color?
05-11-2009, 07:18 PM
OK, so I'm home and catching up with my challenges - I love all the BG ideas and will be starting on these this afternoon and hope to have them up by tomorrow.
05-12-2009, 07:20 AM
Were we Good while you were away...:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
I hope not....
05-12-2009, 05:24 PM
Keeping with Janet's suggestion of a 'Romantic themed kit' here are the background papers for What Now May - I hope you like them :)
* solid linen texture
* victorian style wallpaper
* old lace texture
* faint harlequin pattern
I'm now looking for more element suggestions... so far there has been:
Green/Yellow velvet ribbons/bows
05-12-2009, 05:33 PM
Wow! These are just perfect!!!!!! :tup:
I love the idea of a velvet ribbon/bow and how about a lace ribbon with bow or an oval doily or frame (using the lace pattern from the background).
Or maybe a frame looking like an old (victorian style) mirror
05-12-2009, 05:42 PM
Oh, wow, Erica, those are GORGEOUS!
Hmmmmm. . . . romantic. . . . how about an opened locket on a chain?
An old valentine journaling card?
An antique metal frame?
I like the idea of a velvet or lace ribbon, maybe in loose curls
05-12-2009, 05:46 PM
Wow Erica.......just WoW!!!!!
05-12-2009, 07:14 PM
I would love some flower. Either silk flowers in the orange and blue or some poppies.
05-12-2009, 07:18 PM
how about a lily or a long stem rose,
some scattered diamonds (they're romantic right...?)
some greenery, like a viney overlay
05-12-2009, 08:10 PM
okay.....romance............loose rose petals, candles, wine glasses, stars
05-12-2009, 08:59 PM
WOW!! I love these papers Erica!! I like the idea of the victorian theme - how about a string of pearls, a old fashion letter for journaling, a broach, elegant gold border or corners.
05-12-2009, 09:36 PM
How about a thimble, needle and thread, a pin cushion, a folded lace hanky, old glasses.
05-12-2009, 10:58 PM
I would love to see
a cameo pin
some jeweled flowers perhaps on a string or ribbon
a feminine old fashioned pen perhaps with an ivory looking handle
word overlay using old fashioned looking script or better yet a clipping mask with old fashioned script words in it.
A narrow rectangle frame
05-13-2009, 05:26 AM
O my....love all the suggestions made so far!
what about a rose overlay or edge like this
05-13-2009, 06:47 AM
Love your papers Erica...
And, love the photo you have here Caro... that should go into a color scheme... beautiful!
05-13-2009, 06:54 AM
How About a Heritage Era Ladies Hat with a Hat Pin
(I collect them... and some are so beautiful)...
2 wedding rings overlapped
2 Hearts on stappled ribbons... where we write on the hearts
05-13-2009, 06:57 AM
Wonderful photo, Caro. Love to see an overlay as you mentioned!
05-13-2009, 01:02 PM
Oh this months ideas are awesome, love all the suggestions thank you and Debi's right you should submit that photo for a colour theme Caro.
05-13-2009, 05:49 PM
Oh, yeah, I'll third that suggestion: We need a color scheme from that photo, Caro!
How about. . . a scatter of dried rose petals?
I love the pearls idea, but how about a spill of loose pearls?
This is really out there, but how about a bridal veil, with maybe a beaded veil coming down from a flower crown?
05-14-2009, 08:53 PM
I'm going to be away again tomorrow (Saturday my time) at the NZ Crop, we'll be having a live chat - 10pm EST Friday May 15 - so please pop in if you're going to be around. I'll be back into the element designs on Sunday.
05-17-2009, 06:59 PM
OK, here are a few elements to go with the backgrounds... 3 more still to come.
* Velvet Ribbon (folded)
* Velvet Ribbon (curled)
* Loose Pearls scattered
* Cameo Pin (separate from folded corner)
* Folded Corner
05-17-2009, 07:42 PM
Oh, Erica, these are beautiful! This is going to be one lovely kit.
If you haven't decided on those last few elements yet, how about. . .
a spray of baby's breath, or maybe a small bouquet with baby's breath and dried rosebuds
antiqued bronze corners, with little specs of the orange and green from the cameo pin and/or the enamel green
a scrap of torn parchment paper for journaling
05-17-2009, 07:55 PM
Oh, How beautiful...
How about something for journaling like a old post card or an ATC vintage card...
Instead of a frame, how about corners matching the cameo?
This reminds me of something my Grandmother would have already...
Maybe something Crocheted...
05-17-2009, 10:04 PM
Beautiful!! Love the Cameo pin and pearls!!
05-18-2009, 12:19 AM
