I am so confused! The program supposedly scanned my computer for photos and image files, but it assigned incorrect dates to some, and some images don't show up at all, even though other images in the SAME imported folder show up.
Did I miss something? I can't figure this out :(

What do you mean incorrect dates? Did it assign dates automatically or do you have to type them in? Can you see the missing images in another program? Are they there or maybe they didn't scan and that is why they don't show up.

missing pics: I can see them show up in Elements Organizer, and they are ther ein my folders when I browse my computer.
dates: they are showing up in "trees" under the wrong year... I didn't even have this laptop past last fall, so items showing up as "2002" are strange, and I can't figure out how to change it.

Just a few things that might help:
1. Make sure that picasa is recognizing all different kinds of photo types. Tools > Options > File Type
2. When you have picasa open and you see the files on the left hand side, you can right click on it edit folder description. You can change the date here. I'm not sure why they are showing up with the wrong dates...to be honest I don't know why they are incorrect. I think picasa usually gets the date from the files themselves. Like our camera had time stamps that we assume was part of the file too.
3. Something I recently discovered was collections. I have my photo collections and my scrapbooking collections with all my scrap stuff. I find it helpful to organize different types of items in picasa.
Hope that helps!

Picassa get the dates for your pictures from your camera..make sure you camera has it's date setting correct.
There was a time when I left the battery out of my camera for too long and the date reset to the default of 1/1/2003 and all of my pictures showed in Picasa as 2003.
You can easily check to see if it is photo issue or a Picasa issue by right clicking on one of your photos and looking at the date in the properties.
To change how your pictures are categorized - you can change the date by right clicking on the folder and choosing Edit Folder Description.

ok, I figured out the date thing. It was so silly. Long story short, nothing wrong with camera, picasa or my computer.
As for the images, Thank you Elizabeth. Apparently, even though I set the viewer to view all file types, Picasa itself wasn't seeing them. Now I have them all :)
