Week 1 – June 1 to June 7 - Lucky Dip

***Special Bonus Challenge – Collect A Kit***

See here for more info on new Lucky Dips Challenges (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37858)

Special bonus challenge week – in other words I’m nominating one of my products for you to use or if you don’t want to get the bonus you can use any DSP product.

The nominated product to use this week is the Paper Moon Kit (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_18&products_id=10054) - scroll down for instructions.

Here is the 1st instalment of the free Kit to win when you enter all 4 weekly Lucky Dip challenges using the nominated products.

Part Kit Preview – Jelly Babies:

This week’s random theme is: Helter Skelter…Re-Colour Me

For this weeks challenge you are to use the items listed from the nominated product and the colour swatch provided to re-colour ALL items that you use to create your LO both nominated and any others you use.

Colour Swatch and Hex numbers: (Right click to 'save image as')

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/6504/Wk1JuneColourSwatch.jpg

Items to use from the kit:

Paper Frame (you can use multiples of this – so any amount of photos)
Any two Backgrounds
Beaded Spray (beads only re-coloured)
Blue Moon Ribbon

*** You can use other DSP products in conjunction with the nominated product but remember they ALL have to be re-coloured. ***

To get the free kit or part of, you MUST USE ALL of the nominated items as listed above. You may however use any other DSP items to complete you LO. You can cut, crop and blend all/any of the items to fit with this re-colour challenge.

If you don’t want the free kit you can use ANY DSP kit/elements, freebies or from your current stash (must only be DSP products)

Upload your LO to Erica’s Lucky Dips Gallery or if it’s doing extra duty somewhere else I will need a link to your LO in this forum.

If anything is not clear please just ask any questions here :)

Some really simple rules:

Use my nominated products if wanting the bonus or only DSP products if not
NO - Ploppers and QC’s for this weeks challenge
Journaling or themed title would be nice but you don’t have to
Your LO can do double/triple duty as long as you put a link in this forum, especially if you intend to do all four challenges. How will I know to include you in the draw otherwise
Please comment generously on other member’s layouts in this challenge. I know I don’t really need to ask you that because you’re all so good at it anyway.

Have fun with this challenge...

OK, I need some help. Has anybody else tried to recolor that ribbon? I use PSCS4 or PSE7...I'm not getting much accomplished here...

I don't use cs4 but in cs3 I would use a couple of options:
1. select whole ribbon and use the hue and saturation tool, this is under the image tool
2. or try the channel mixer under the adjustment menu.
3. select part of the ribbon, say the moons with your magic wand tool and then use the H&S tool etc

Hope this helps :) and I'm sure others have some tips for you.

well I have just made the ugliest layout I've ever done have to say Erica dont like recolouring elements and I gave up trying to recolour the beads so if you want to tell me how to do it it would be very much appreciated as it stands now I have a layout to upload called "crappy layout"

To recolour the beads Caro and anyone else having problems with this challenge:
Step 1 - I would first place a new layer above the element then draw a circle on this layer with the marque tool around one of the beads, fill the circle with your choice from the swatch
Step 2 - then play with the blend modes to get a good match for your chosen colour. I found the hard light and colour blends worked the best. Sorry I can't help with PSE or PSP but I would think there is a way for items to be recoloured.
Finished - See image below of what I achieved this morning.

If anyone has real problems with the recolouring just do the best you can and don't stress out about it. I wont be hard on your attempts as I want you to have fun not stress. hope this little diagram helps. And if all else fails just do a LO using the items nominated :)

If anyone has some ideas they'd like to see included in the Lucky Dips please let me know, I'm always in search of new ideas.

Here is my LO. I did change the moons on the ribbon to flowers to better match the theme of my LO.

Here is mine. I didn't have much trouble with the mechanics of changing the colors (used Hue/Saturation to accomplish) but I did have trouble trying to create a plasing combination from the swatch colors. I kept my page fairly monochromatic:

I found this very diffcult to do. The kit, is soo wonderful with the original colors, that I did'nt want to change them. I will just have to do another LO without changing the colors, anyways here is mine:

It's a bit late, but here's mine:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=320562
I didn't realise I was only supposed to recolor the beads on the spray until I had merged all the layers, so the branch is a bit greener than the original. Hope that's okay.
