Hi
I previously used the simple program Picture It from Microsoft but it is not compatible with my new computer and Vista. I was wondering if MMS could offer me a couple of options that Scrabook Max doesn't seem to have, such as recoloring or putting color in a png object, and an edge program that allowed me to blend the edges of a photo or paper into the background behind it. I really miss that!
Thanks,
Barb Norris

Giving this a bump for you ... I haven't used My Memories Suite yet, but I know there are lots of other people who have, and I am sure someone can help answer your questions!

You cant bend objects in MMS - its more of a layout programme than a graphics programme - and you cant use plugins with it. If you want to do this sort of thing you would be better off with Photoshop Elements.

I can't see any way to change the colour of an element or to blend the edges, although you can adjust the opacity of an element. It does have options to apply some effects (eg black and white, sepia etc) to photos but it is a layout program rather than a full on graphics editor. I hope this answers the question :)

Thanks for your input. I do believe my questions are answered. Now to decide what to do about buying the program. Barb

I noticed that DSP will be hosting a class on the My Memories Suite at Arlington this week. What got my attention is that you pay for the class & get the software free? Do you get your own copy to keep at the class?
I think Amanda Berhmann is teaching the class for DSP & I was curious about the software & what you get at the class. I keep thinking about trying this software for school projects.
thanks, Rhoda

BTW, I posted this in the gatherings/convention section but there haven't been any responses yet.

Rhoda ... sorry you haven't gotten an answer yet. Where have you seen the announcement/information about the class? I'm not familiar with it, but maybe can help track down some information.

Thanks! The class listings are listed at http://www.greatamericanscrapbook.com/Classes.aspx?ShowId=10. The cost of the class is $23.00 and the description says that you get the software free. I think the software is regularly $59.99 so it sounds like a great deal, almost too good, kwim?
I'd like to make sure before I signed up for the class.
thanks, Rhoda

Well, I agree with what you see in the description. Unfortunately, I don't have any first hand knowledge of the event or class. Could you maybe send Amanda a PM (Private Message). Her user name here is Amanda. Sorry to not have an answer ... I will dig around to see if I can find more information.

Sounds great, but won't be making the journey at this time. Sometimes I go to Ft. Worth and attend events with my daughter. I live in Houston. She is being tested for MS soon, and would appreciate any prayers. Her name is Analisa Roche. Thanks, Barb

Hi Rhoda Jayne,
I answered you privately but thought I would answer publically as well. You will receive a copy of Disk 1 in the class. So you do get the software for free, but will not receive disks 2-5 of extra graphics.

Hope that helps!

Amanda

That sounds great & thanks for answering! It just so happens that there will be a Scottish festival in Arlington this weekend too so I've gotta go to that too.:) My favorite author is Diana Gabaldon & she writes the best historical fiction which takes place in Scotland. I've got to go see some men in kilts:love1::)
Thanks for all the help!

Thanks so much. Her spinal tap has been scheduled. The MRI showed swollen areas of the brain. Barb
