I would love to get MMS but first need to see if some kind person on here will help me with finding the info. for specs needed in order to be able to use the MMS program.

I was able to find where my monitor resolution is and found that it is: 1024 x 768.

Anyways, I know very little about the computer specs themselves and how to find anything [especially since I now have Vista and it has me totally confused with them changing everything from where it was in XP, where I could find it at one time. Grrrrrr!]

If one of you are good at this and have figured out what it is that I need help with, please let me know and I'd be eternally grateful.

My #1 thing before I can do anything else is to make sure that I have all I need on my laptop to be able to use this software.

It states that you need to have 16 MB Video RAM (64 MB recommended) but I can't find anywhere on here to find out if I have this and if I do - how much of it I have.

Enough said, I don't know what I'm doing ... please help me.

I just want to find out if I have everything specified to use this program so I can buy it or if it won't work on my computer then will have to start looking elsewhere and I can't see others as versitile as this from reviews I've already read.

Thanks so much!

Love,

Jennelle

My total reasons for wanting this program are to be able to do scrap pages, put them together in an album and set it to music and to be able to burn it on a DVD to be able to play on a television set.

If you have Vista you will have more than 16mb of video ram - you dont need to have a graphics card - and I would hazard a guess that all modern computers have more than 16mb of video ram these days.- its often integrated but thats fine

. . .It states that you need to have 16 MB Video RAM (64 MB recommended) but I can't find anywhere on here to find out if I have this and if I do - how much of it I have..

Click the Start button and go to Control Panel.
Make sure you have the default Windows Vista view selected
Under Appearance and Personalization, select Adjust screen resolution
you will get a window showing your resolution and what video card is installed.

I want to thank you both so much for your help!

Here's what I found out [not sure you need to know all of this but I want to make absolutely sure that I have everthing I need before I order the program. :)]

Okay, here's what I found out ...

It said:

DAC type: internal

Resolution: 1280 x 800

Chip type: Generic PnP monitor Mobile intel [R] 965 Express Chipset Family

Total Available Graphics Memory: 358 MB

Dedicated Video Memory - 0

System Video Memory - 128 MB

Shared System Memory - 230 MB

The following was under the Control Panel/System & Maintenance/system area:

2 GB Memory

32-bit Operating System

Intel Celeron CPU 540 @ 1.86 Ghz

Service Pack 1 [Upgrade Windows Vista] [which I did do this and it's installing 5 updates as I am typing this.]

Space free on CD Drive: 73.2 GB

Total Size: 110 GB

Whew, I hope I covered everything needed [probably too much, huh?]

Anyways, just double-checking to make sure this program will work for me.

Again, thank you so much for your help!

Jennelle

You look good to go from a memory/hardware point of view!

My only question would be the drive space, and it might just be that you need to install the program, and access any graphics on their CDs.

To double check your hard drive space, go to Start > Computer. You should get a box that shows all your drives. The important ones are your Hard Disk Drives. In my laptop, I have two drives, you will likely show the same - a C: drive (Local Drive) and maybe a D: drive (recovery of some kind). Report back on how big the drives are and how much free - my C drive shows 192 GB free of 285 GB.

Hi Kathleen,

I did that and it shows the following when I put my mouse over it [the C Drive]:

Space Free: 72.6 GB

Total Size: 110 GB

------------

Also, I forgot to mention that last night when I was fiddling around and trying to find the info. myself [before I posted here], I found the following info and copied and pasted it but I have absolutely no idea where it was that I found it.

I'm copying and pasting it here for ya to see and maybe you know what it means and where I found it at. *lol* All I know is that it was on my laptop ... SOMEWHERE.

Oh, and it said that 56% of physical memory is used.

Now, I do have Digital Image Pro installed on here and know that it's a big program and would consider uninstalling it except that it'd be the only editing program that I have to use.

Also, I have quite a bit of stuff in My Documents that I can either burn to a CD or put onto my flash drive and then as needed, can get them off from them to work with in order to free up space if that's what's needed.

Love,

Jennelle

Here is what I think ...

(1) Having Digital Image Pro INSTALLED on your computer should not make a difference. Trying to run it AND MMS at the same time probably would be ill advised. So if you use it, keep it.

(2) I did a little more checking, technically the suggested Celeron that you have is a slightly lesser processor than the recommended Pentium 4. Based on things I have read, I think you should be OK. Here is the best, non-technical article I found: Intel Celeron vs Pentium (http://ezinearticles.com/?Intel-Celeron-vs-Pentium&id=31027).

(3) For installation (this is why I asked about the hard disk space), you need 700MB, which is less than 1GB (basically 1000 MB = 1GB). Each additional CD that contains the graphics would take up an additional 700MB (there are 5 of them). You can either choose to install the graphics on your computer (you currently have enough room on your hard drive, but generally speaking you don't want to get below 20% available space on your main hard drive), or you can just install the program, and access the graphics on the CDs. Installing them on your hard drive will likely provide easier and faster access, and the flip side is accessing them on the CDs will keep roughly 3.5GB free on your hard drive. If it was me, I would go ahead an install them, if you need the space, you can always uninstall them and access the graphics on the CD. To put it in perspective, right now you have about 65% free space on your drive, if you install MMS and all the graphics on the 5 CDs, you go down to about 62%.

I hope this helps!

Thank you, thank you ... thank you!

I can not wait to order this but it probably won't be able to be before the 1st of July.

Still, being able to make scrap pages and then have disks for family to be able to view on their TV ... I mean, how cool is that? *lol*

Good luck, and please let us know how it turns out!! And share some of your creations!

As for creating scrap pages, yep, it is pretty cool!
