View Full Version : Making a border?
I am using PSE2.0 and want to put a border around my picture. I went through the tutorial and did it once with edit>stroke, but now it won't work. Have I changed some settings? or am I doing something wrong? When I zoom in I cannot see the border so I don't think it is there. Can anybody help?

Kim,
When the box for the stroke comes up try increasing the pixels and see if that helps. Also make sure your background color and the color of the border are not the same.

I tried those two things and I still don't see a border. But I found a tutorial by Margie and she mats her photos with a rectangle behind the picture. So I was going to do that for now. My PSE version is a trial version so I am not too worried about the problem for now. I am really enjoying this program and will likely buy my own version but I still wonder what I did to disable this function?
Thanks again.
I'm not sure why the stroke isn't working. Can you try it again and tell us exactly what the settings are? What layer are you on when stroking? Should be the layer of the photo you want framed.
Let me know exactly the process and we'll try to straighten it out.
Okay this is what I did: I opened up a layout, highlighted the layer from the layers menu on the right hand side, using the eyedropper tool I selected a red outline to use on my light gray background, went back to the move arrow tool to make sure the outline was around my picture, then chose the edit menu and stroke, I set the outline to 10 pixels, and never changed any of the other settings...just a minute there is this tranparency button that is checked, if I take that off, IT WORKS!!! Boy do I feel silly! But I figured it out all by myself. Yeah! Yeah! I am still going to leave this message because it could help someone else who is just learning the program too. Thank you for the help and for making me look carefully at what I was doing. Thanks again.
...er...glad I could help...???
But glad you got it! Transparency lock is a cool tool, good you've discovered it for future use!
And glad your beautiful red border now graces your page
