Here is the tutorial for http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/7174/thumbs/Andrew_I_Know_Medium_Web_view.jpg (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=319450&ppuser=51256)
ANDREW I KNOW (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=319450&cat=500&ppuser=51256) User: PQ FRAN (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/member.php?uid=51256)
Do all of your corrections on the photo.(Layer 1)
Duplicate.(Layer 2)
Convert layer 2 to black and white go to
image>adjustments> levels. Move both left and right sliders inward a little.
Duplicate layer 2 - (Layer 3) now you have 3 layers
turn off layer 3
Layer 2 - apply blend mode OVERLAY @ 33%
Turn on Layer 3. apply blend mode DARKEN @ 60%.
Merge. Duplicate.
On the top layer use the burn tool (soft brush, 30 pixels, range:shadows, exposure: 15%) and darken eyes, eyelashes, eyebrows, lips, nostrils, creases around nose and mouth. Use the dodge tool and whiten sclera of eyes.
Merge visible. Duplicate twice. Now you have 3 layers again. Bottom layer, middle layer (layer 2) and top layer (layer 3)
Layer 3 - apply HARD LIGHT BLEND @ 10% opacity
Layer 2 - apply SOFT LIGHT OR LUMINANCE @ 30% opacity.
Merge. Now you have one layer.
Add Lauren Bavin's background AGED CANVAS to the bottom. (I lightened it and cloned out the stains.)
NOw you have 2layers: Layer 1 (aged canvas) Layer 2 (layout)
Convert layout to sepia toned. Lightly paint over uneven areas of face with a color that matches the skin.
Duplicate the layout.
Now you have 3 layers - bottom to top - aged canvas, layout, copy of layout
Apply a screen mode to the top layer
On the middle layer, decrease the opacity until you get a look you like.
Then I applied a mask because I did not want the texture to show through on the face.

This looks fabulous!
I'm trying to do this tutorial, but by the time I merged the original three layers (original, BW darken and BW overlay), there was absolutely no change in the photo's appearance. Layers 2 and 3 (the BW layers with effects applied) were beneath the original photo and when I merged them all, it just showed the original photo. What I'm wondering is this: in tutorials, do the 1, 2, 3, etc. appear from the top down or from the bottom up? In other words, is layer one above layer two above layer three as I had assumed, or is it in reverse?
ETA: Figured it out. Thanks!
Is this just for the Ganny's or can I join here and get these tutorial even though I do not have a tutorial to share since I´m not that good in writing English and never made a tutorial? I LOVE to keep learning new things in scraping and working with my photos:)

I have had quite a few queries on how I did the "warping" on this LO of mine :
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/data/7176/thumbs/Because_I_am.jpg (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/showphoto.php?photo=303122&ppuser=1832)
Because I am ! (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/showphoto.php?photo=303122&cat=500&ppuser=1832)
Imperfect , slightly wavering” lines tut to add a note of hand-cut charm !
For my LO “Because I am” I followed a tut by Michelle Filo in April/May 2008 edition of Digital Scrapbooking. These are her instructions using Photoshop .
1.Working on a new layer, use the Shape tool (keyboard shortcut :U) to draw a rectangle or other shape. (In the Options toolbar at the top of the screen, select the Fill pixels icon to draw and fill shape in a single step .)
2. Apply Filter > Distort > Wave to the finished shape. Michelle chose the following settings :
· Number of Generators : 5
· Wavelength : Min. 1, Max. 999
· Amplitude : Min.1, Max. 6
· Scale : Horiz.100% ,Vert.100%
· Type =Sine
·
3. Insert paper/photo on a new layer. In Layers palette , position paper layer just above shape layer. Right click paper layers name and select Create Clipping Mask.
Hope this helps !!

:rofl::rofl: You GUYS !!! I am NO expert on shadows ..in fact I am pretty useless and sometimes I even DREAM about them !!!:rofl::rofl: I was the butt of many a joke at a recent Granny get together and that is what all the fuss is about ..they are just all poking fun at me !!
However ..I DO have a shadow tut !!!! :yes::yes:
I use this one when my program or my brain just won't co-operate and do what I want !!
1. Make a duplicate of the object you want a shadow on.
2. Make a mask of this copy and fill it with black .
3. Change the opacity of the black to 50% and add a Gaussian blur (about 5)
4. Place this blurred layer UNDER the original object and distort/stretch/displace it until it looks good !!:tup::tup:

Hello All,
This sounded right up my alley and after reading through the pages I see a tut-- I'm going to give it a try.... Maybe I'll learn something huh?
LOL
Well my name is Paula-- and I have 4 grandbabies and another set of girls that I sort of claim as my nieces-- but I'm more of a Nana to them also......Their Mama is living with me right now-- and the girls with their Dad... The family is struggling, so I have taken (Christie) under my wing.... She's like my daughter and I love her as much....So, in the future you will be seeing pictures of Christie and her girls-- Brittany and Mary( they are Twins) , and then my family pics too...LOL
So, I am glad I'm here.
