Photowalk Details

This year’s photo walk will be held on Friday August 7th. Meet and Greet in the Lobby of the Crowne Plaza Hotel from 3.30pm.

At approximately 4pm, we will leave the hotel and walk to the Guadalupe River Park. You can read more about the area here (http://www.grpg.org/ThePark.shtml):
This is a casual photowalk and you are free to explore the area in your own time however our basic route will be as follows

From the Crowne Plaza we will make our way first to the Giant Monopoly Board.
Head southeast on Almaden Blvd toward CA-82/W San Carlos St.
Turn right at CA-82/W San Carlos St
Giant Monopoly board will be on the left.

Attached is a map of the area giving the approximate route.
Please note route is a guide only and you may stop at any point.

We will aim to be finishing at approximately 6pm.

Please note that this weekend is the Annual Jazz festival in San Jose and this may have some impact on the route so we will need to be a bit flexible.

Fabulous! This is one area I didn't get to last year and I was really sad to have missed the Monopoly Board.

Any guesstimate of a time frame yet?

OMG! I think I finally get to come to a DSP crop! I just decided to quit my job and take some time off and I've been really nervous about making sure I have enough to do while I am off so this will give me something to look forward to! Hope to see everyone there.

For those that have done this walk in the past, how accessible is it by wheelchair? Just planning ahead. Oh, and I was looking at the Monopoly Board site, how awesome would that be if we could rent it out either before or after the photo walk! That or rent it out for our hubbies who don't want to go to the crop. Just an idea.

We did a different walk last year. It looks pretty flat though when you look at it on google street view.
The monopoly board is a public area so Im sure anyone can go there

I went there last year and it is all pretty level with walkways. I don't think it would be a problem for a wheelchair. It is cool to see!!

Cool, I am very excited to get to go! I'll have DH there to help out, but I like to do as much on my own as I can (besides, he's not that enthused about the photo walk as I am). Thanks to Scamp for sharing with me three awesome layouts she did from last year which truly are inspirational. I hope to be able to take some "inspirational" photos like that this year.

I'm new around the mb, but registered and am really excited about this event! (Even added my flair!) I'm coming from Southern Cal and my plane lands at San Jose at 2:42 and I'm told it's 3 miles from the airport, so I'm hoping to get there in time for the walk. Counting down the days! Thanks!

Once you get to where the taxis are parked, it only takes 10 minutes to get to the hotel. Last year there was major construction at the airport so it was hard finding the taxis.

Carti - you will need to have QuickTime program on your computer. It is available here (http://www.apple.com/downloads/) at Apple.com

When that is loaded on your computer, if you click on the link Lauren gives in the 1st post, it will take you to the San Jose Parks website. Under the caption to the picture on that page is a link to the video that requires quicktime.

Hope this helps. It is a beautiful park.

Are there pictures from last year's walk by chance? Since I've never done one before I'm curious what others have photographed. Thanks.

Here's a link to many layouts that were done using photos from last year's photo walk in San Jose. The first post has a link to the gallery of all the layouts. I know that there are also links to individual collections of photos, but I can't find it right now. See you in 11 days.:yippee:

Does anyone know where I can park to go to this? I am not staying at the Crowne Plaza and I refuse to pay 20$ for parking for a few hours to park at the hotel...

I seem to remember some street parking being available.

Here is a parking map of downtown San Jose, rates all look kind of similar to hotel rates unless you are after 6pm.

Good luck!!
