Hi, I live in Serbia. So far I have usually made my layouts in A4 format and printed on my old Epson on A4 high quality paper. The layouts were just automatically reduced by the printing margin. I then put them in regular A4 ring binders in sheet protectors (just regular, no acid-free).

I am kind of tired of the format and would love to try the square format that most people here use. I think there is more freedom with that. Till now I thought I had no chance to do that, since I don't have a A3 printer, and I didn't find any place to print my layouts, except for the photo place and they charge extreme fees for it.

But after I read the whole "which format do you use" poll thread, I discovered that a lot of scrappers actually print on 8x8 instead of 12x12. I calculated that I could print a 8x8 layout on a A4 paper, even if I don't print borderless (which my new Canon can do as well). There would be a scrap strip, but that could be use for making some bookmarks or similar gifts.

I have asked a friends who is visiting from the US, to bring me a 8x8 scrapbook album to get me started, but I want to know if they are available here in Europe (like Germany, Austria) as well, so I could buy them on future trips or ask my relatives who live there to bring me some. Or what kind of albums/sizes do other European scrappers use? Thank you.

We use European sizes here and I have always printed 8x8. It is a great size - not as bulky as 12x12 and especially good if you don't have huge amounts of storage space. Lauren prints her pages at home on a Canon printer using A4 paper and just trims the excess.

Yes, you can find the 8x8 albums here in Europe. A great ressource is of course Ebay. I usually use the UK site - just do a search for 8x8 album. It's in their hobby category and there's so many to choose from.

If you have many layouts to print at one time and don't want to do it yourself I recommend Foto.com. I'm not sure if they'll send to Serbia but they do have offices all over Europe and they are very fast and cheap.

You can even find 8x8 photo books in Europe but they are more expensive then if you buy them at e.g. Artscow.
