I'm using PSE6 for Mac (I'm a new mac user, and a beginner to PSE too) and I'm wondering if downloading kits online are going to be a different process. Do I need to make sure they are Mac compatible? I remember (a tiny bit) when I was using PSE6 for Windows that some kits I had to drop into a program that did something to it, if it didn't work automatically. Am I going to have to do anything special to make them work for my Mac?

Nothing special at all for a mac.
In fact it should be easier.... when you click on the download...
they should automatically download, and unzip for you!

So happy to hear that.
Thank you!

Arual - is this a brand new Mac? One thing you will want to do is find your downloads folder (on newer Macs they are on the dock which is that line of Icons that let you into your programs and things). All your downloads will go into that folder, but like Debi said, they should unzip automatically and you will see both the folder and the zip file in that folder.

Lisa, yes it's pretty new (I've had it for about 2 months, give or take). I don't see the downloads folder in my dock. Oddly enough, I no longer see my "stack" icon either. Hm. I don't think I ever did see my download folder there. Maybe I can place it there or did I somehow delete it?

It's possible you deleted it by trying to move it either on to the desktop or elsewhere. Since it should be a part of your stack. Hmmm...not sure how to retrieve that. I can't seem to find it's default location except that it is in your Stack. Maybe just create a new one there and then make sure your browser preferences see it. Or, you could change browser preferences to put your downloads where you want.

Very weird, or maybe not? but I thought it would be in my Applications... I figured I would just drag it to the dock to make a new icon there. But it's not there either.
Ahhhh!

To find your Downloads folder - go to
your finder
Go to Finder > Home > Downloads
I'll look later to see how to get your stack back..

Debi - even I'm lost with those directions.
Double click the icon for your HD. Choose your user ID and you will see the folder there. (Duh! Chalk up all this as distraction with DH having surgery tomorrow!)
Now that you have found it, just drag it onto your Dock. As I recall the Stack is still there, just not in use and when you drag the folder next to the Trash Bin, it just magically reappears.

Ohhhh I did it, thank you ladies!!
I restored back my original documents and download "stack" files, plus made another one too.
I downloaded a 'frame' today, dragged it into PSE and it doesn't work.. it is a .psdimage folder.

Try a right-click (in mac speak that is CTRL+Click) and select Open with and PSE. I'm going to guess that the .psdimage was a typo and the extension is .psd. The only reason it might not open is if it was created in PS and they forgot to select "make it compatible" when they saved.

I tried it and it didn't work. No biggie, I went ahead and trashed it. All of the other things I downloaded and tried to open in PSE today did work, so I'm assuming it was just a fluke. Eh, you win some you lose some. It was a beautiful frame and went perfect with the dress my DD is wearing in the photo I'm working on too. I'll find something else, no need to waste more time on something that probably is never going to work for me. LOL!
