Know of any good tutorials for making digital chain? I'm specifically interested in making some jewelry that looks like it's been "dropped" casually on the page...

I prefer tutes for Photoshop, but I have PSP and Painter, and Illustrator (though I'm not very good in that program ;)).

I dont' know of any tutorials but it would just be a matter of creating the basic chain loop shape - putting some beveling and shadow. Duplicate the loop over and over and lay it out on your page how you want it then erase the parts that would be linked to the other one.

HTH!

I have a chain link custom shape (two, one loop, one line) that i use

for fine chains, I use a brush with the same shapes and adjust spacing, go over it twice with each shape

you'd be amazed at how most fuzzy/furry fibers look like jewel chains when given a metal layer style

That's a great tip on the brushes - I'm going to try that ! :p

Ah, yeah, that's a great idea. I'll play around with that and see what I can come up with. Might share the results (i.e., if I managed to tweak up a decent chain or make some good brushes).
