Are you ready for the next Graphically Challenged? :yahoo: :yippee:

For the August Graphically Challenged I have another tutorial for you.

I have the tutorial for you on my blog. Just click here to check it out. (http://robyngough.com/2009/06/30/experimenting-with-overlays/)

This months challenge is to USE BRUSHES. Use the brushes in any way you like, for grunging, inked edges, decorative. The choice is yours.

The Rules

You must use a DSP product (or lots and lots of products :D) in your layout. This can be store purchased, freebies, etc.
You must have your layout in the Graphically Challenged with Robyn (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=6698) gallery by midnight on the 31st of August in order to be eligible for the drawing.
You must link back in this thread, so that I can grab a random winner from this thread.

What can you win?
One person will be randomly chosen at the end of the month and will receive a $3.99 store coupon! :drumroll:

Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with! Lets get blending!! You can get your Graphically Challenged Flair Here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36564)!

This should be fun

If you have photoshop you can make brushes out of the edges and stamps that are in the kits. In the DSP kits there are a lot of great edges, stamps and overlays they can all be turned into brushes.

Just open up the png file of what you want to make your brush in photo shop (I used from this months club digital Green Tea Page kit/ Element_Golden_Overlay and that makes a great edge brush) . Go to edit/define brush preset and you have a brush. Very simple and lots of fun.

I hope Robin that you don't mind that I put this in here.

Do they have to be only DSP or my own brushes or can they be from other sources?

I love bruches. Been getting into some really grungy ones recently. I mostly found them by googling "free photoshop brushes"! As I have absolutlely NO money to spend on this hobby they do have to be free. There are some seriously generous people out there so I always try to leave a little love if possible. I also found searching for high-res brushes gave some ones that were bid enough to use on LOs.
Clearly I will be in again this month!!

Well, here's one! It will take some close looking or a very well trained photographer to detect the brush work though!

I used lots of grungy brushes to blend the photo and the small yellow paper, also to grunge up the title words that I added.

I am having a much harder time with this than I thought I would. The only thing I ever really use brushes for is masking, but I wanted to use them as described in your tutorial, and just can't seem to make it look right.

I've got time, though, so I'll keep on plugging along! :p

Dixie! You sound so discouraged and you shouldn't! Your LO is great and the challenge really got you to try something new, which is what it really is meant to do. You do know there is no such thing as fail in scrapping?!??

Did I put my layout in the correct place? I've noticed a couple where I put them, but mostly they are in another place.
Thanks.

This is one busy LO that Ioriginally did for DET bootcamp. Its doing plenty of duties elsewhere too! Its a scraplift of Kathleens fantastic LO:
