I'm baaaaaaa---aaaack!

I went to review the other color schemes I said I was going to use for my next challenge, and dangit if I didn't JUST use them ALL in one kit! The turquoise, yellow, brown, bright pink, green, it's all there in a summer kit I haven't quite gotten uploaded to the store yet. When I do I'll send those color scheme suggesters a link to it. But I'm mad at myself for not looking here before I made it.

Anyway... that means we need all new color scheme suggestions, and here we go again! I'd like to make this a doodly kit, since I just got some new software I'm wanting to play with.

For those of you who haven't played along to this - whoever wants to can make suggestions for a page kit. If I choose your suggestion, you will get the full final kit free. So tha'ts up to 13 people will definitely get the kit free.

We start by posting color schemes or inspiration photos for me to take colors out of (you don't have to use your color picker unless you want to for those). Once I choose colors, we're on to making suggestions for backgrounds, then elements.

So, are you ready? Let's see those color schemes!

Well as it turns out you have a week to add any others you like - I'm on vacation to Williamsburg Virginia - to learn some American history! - for a few days starting on Monday. I shouldn't have started this until I got back, because I was finishing up two other kits before I go.

At any rate, it will be the first thing I get back to once I'm home - and I'm sorry for the delay. I look forward to working with you all on it next weekend - so stop back by!

Oh! Oh! Oh!!!!! I LOVE the coffee one! It's just the right mix of neutrals, with a little bright tossed in, in small bits. Great!

I went ahead and started with one background; now you all can direct me. Remember I want to make this a doodley kit - so the swatch is a perfect inspiration, but it doesn't have to have anything to do with cups. You can make element suggestions first this time if you like, because sometimes I use the doodles on the backgrounds (working backwards with this type kit).

So what theme do you want? Here is the first background:

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/707/screenshot96aim.jpg

idtwinmom
08-18-2009, 01:47 PM
Oh, I just looooooove that background! I want to see something blocky! Like a 3d word art or something. I'm bad at doodly though and always see swirls. I think that BG screams chipboard and depth.

Help guys, what can you see with depth and texture?

jemtred

I know we don't need cups but maybe we could have a few as they would just go so well! A nice chunky coffeee mug with steam coming out of it.

Holy canoli! that paper ROOOCCCCCKKKSSS!!!!

How about a plainish brown paper with a touch of blue and green thrown in around the edges. I'm loving your Paint the Day frames, so I will suggest a frame like those, maybe in the blue or dark red. When you first said a doodle kit, I was going to suggest a doodled camera, but not sure if that is what you'd have in mind for this kit.

How was Williamsburg? Hope you had lots of fun. :D

Shana34
08-18-2009, 02:03 PM
How about some doodled steamlike wisps? I love the background!

Elisabeth
08-18-2009, 02:25 PM
I think Lisa's right about blocky and chipboard and depth - so we can go with whatever you all want instead of restricting it to doodly. I did another blocky background:

WOW! This is already awesome, Z!
I like your doodley but I'm having a hard time thinking very doodley with this. Sorry.
How about some grungey "stains"....you know, the kind a mug leaves, the rings and maybe some splats or splashes, perhaps as an overlay?
I also keep thinking copper. I don't know...maybe some copper wire, thin and twisted or looped. Or maybe some of those "stir" sticks instead.

08-18-2009, 03:01 PM
Oh, yea. I LOVE the paint chip strip in your Runaway Dream Page Kit. Maybe we can have one of those with the colors you pulled out.

Elisabeth
08-18-2009, 04:00 PM
Here is the frame - I went with splatters instead of doodles - and it is copper - I loved that idea!
I love the coffee theme too but I don't want to do that because of copyright issues - it's a little close for comfort for me to take the colors and style and theme too! But I can do it generic like. I can add a stain; I just don't want to do cups and specifics.

bludlfn003
08-18-2009, 04:40 PM
I'm loving that copper frame stamp. What about a ribbon type thing in that copper that goes across the page.
a ripped and torn overlay.
I don't know if you already have a plan for another paper but if not what about that lightest beige in the same texture (not tiled but all the colors look like watercolors)

You know the warm, cozy sit around and drink coffee with kind of friend that you can talk with for hours. Something about that. A coaster, dirty coffee ring stains all over it, the kind you see in a truck stop type restaurant. And I would love to see the final paper be in the red!

Yeah, I've gotten bossy because my brain is overflowing with the possibilities!

Wow. This is fantastic. I love the ideas everyone has. Maybe you should make this is sooper-dooper mega size kit!!
I love that additional background and the coaster. Of course, the copper scrolly voney thing is perfect, as is the fabric flower.
I was thinking last night that maybe you could incorporate more copper by making one of those "alpha starter" hanging tag thingies....a small round copper disc with a small hole at the top for hanging, but now I don't know. I like the idea of adding more that blue some how.
Perhaps also frayed thin fabric ribbon. If not a ribbon, some thin rawhide-type cord or string--thicker than thread, thinner than rope.....

I just popped in to check out your thread Z. What an awesome kit! Wish I had seen this thread and was able to play along! That's what I get for taking time away from DSP and scrapping!

Z, I just saw this kit and must have it. When is the deadline? I have so little scrapping time right now but I just know I won't want to miss out on a bonus that goes with this amazing kit!
