View Full Version : Calling all Europeans

I've just noticed a scrapper from Norway in the gallery and it got me wondering
How many Europeans are we at DSP?
Perhaps we could even form a little support group and share info on where we get printed and such. A little mini guide to digital scrapping in Europe and maybe even eventually get a crop organized.
So I'm calling all Europeans - I know you are out there. Come in and introduce yourself.
I might as well start with myself. I'm Jeanet, 29, live in Denmark with my husband and dog. I work part time in a store but I'm currently looking for another job after leaving college where I don't have to work weekends and evenings all the time. When I first began digital scrapping I only knew of two others in Denmark that did the same so I was excited to find DSP and learn a lot.
Hi! I'm Tanja, 32, and I live in Finland with my fiancé. I'm a PhD student in English Philology. I've been scrapbooking for a few years now: I've done digital since 2006, hybrid from 2008, and lately I've also dabbled in paper scrapping. I usually print my LOs (8x8) at home, but I've also had one photobook printed by ExtraFilm (http://www.extrafilm.com).

Hi Tanja, wow English Philology, that's quite a mouthful and on top of that a PhD. When will you be done? I had a friend who's mother worked at the University of Helsinki but that's years ago. I'm guessing that's where you are attending?
Hej there, Jeanet - I love your layouts! I began working on my thesis this January, so I should be done in about four years, but we'll see! :) Yep, good old UH...
Oh, I just noticed the Nordic Christmas kit on your blog - beautiful! Will you be putting it somewhere for download/purchase?

*waves* I'm Antoinette, living in The Netherlands with hubby, 2 daughters (14 and 12) and three furbabies :)
No paper scrapbooking for me, I'm completely digital - glue and me don't go well together!
Love DSP, I've learned so much since I joined.
I was (or still am) a pixel graphic artist (drawing dot by dot) and it's a breeze to create DS graphics. They're huge! Totally different technique, but learning new things keeps the old grey cells working ;)

And another Dutchie here. I'm Janet, living in the east part of the Netherlands, married and mom of 2 and granny of a gd.
Have been paper scrapping for a couple of years, but having 10 cats walking on the table things went pretty chaotic.
That's why I became addicted to digi scrapping,

I am Natalija in Serbia. I am a wife of 17 years and a mom to 6 darlings (16y. to 20m.) I am a SAHM, altough I help my husband a lot in ministry writing articles, radio broadcasts, recording them when needed, teaching children in our church and a club, translating curricula, etc. In my "spare time" I sew for my family and love to scrap LOL.

Hi Antoinette
I must confess that I have no idea what a pixel graphic artist is or what DS graphics is. Could you show some examples?

Sunny and hot? Do you think you could send that weather a bit more north. We've had rain for days now or so it seems although today was fairly resonable.
I just had to check where Almelo is. I've been in Emmen and in Eindhoven and see that it's in between these cities.

You sure know how to keep busy Natalija, but I can't believe you've had six children and been married for 17 years and still look so young in your avatar. What's the secret?
Good to see you all here.

Well, I've just been outside trying to send the heat up north :) Don't think it worked...it's almost midnight and the temp. is 24C. pfffffff Forcast for tomorrow..35C.
I would be glad to change place's for a while. Longing for some rain here!
Emmen is close to Almelo about 30 min. from where I am, but Eindhoven is more to the south about 2 hrs. away.
O YEAH!! Natalija, please share your secret and also please tell us how you still can find time to scrap?!

Yoo hoo, I'm Cathie, I live in England. I'm 57, have one DD and one DGS. I work for local government. I began scrapping when DGS was born in May 2006, traditional paper scrapping to begin with, but the mess drove me nuts. Then I discovered Digital Scrapbooking Place and was hooked, the rest is history LOL.
Ooh, Antoinette, I love pixel graphics! Used to follow a lot of tutorials for doing them - very relaxing, a bit like cross stitching. Of course, it's much more creative when you make them by yourself! Jeanet, I think DS graphics simply means digital scrapbooking graphics.
And I could use some of that heat, too!

 We had 37C today and it was terrible:yikes:
Finally tonight we had some rain and dh, ds and me went outside standing in the rain for at least 30 min.
Hope to get some sleep tonight, cause last night temp.'s were still over 22C.

It's good to see both familiar and new faces here. Hi all
Janet, Okay I agree 37C is just too warm. We had great weather here today as well, but sadly it was the one day all week where I had to go to work :( Just typical.

No secret, must be just optical illusion of the avatar, LOL. As to the other part, I must admit that the more I have, the more organized I have an the more I accomplish. But I am not usually doing all of the things at the same time. So, when I am busy with other things, I dont' get to do any layouts. This summer I was a bit more free from other responsiblities, so I tried to do as many as I could. But then again, my household suffered quite a bit =). So, there is no way to do it all. It's always a matter of putting some things on hold and then playing catch-up!

It's quiet up here
Are you all blown away by the heavy winds???
The weather is terrible in the Netherlands (at least in the east part).
 I guess Fall found it's way again.

Fall has definitely arrived here. Just this morning I thought about turning on the heat. It's way too soon.
But the only way I'll be blowing soon is to work. I hate working evenings even it means I've got all day to scrap.

Do you gals ever attend chats? I would like to now and then (although it's hard finding the time with a big family), but most chats are just just impossible to attend, because it's after midnight here and I can't afford staying up that late.

I also never attended a chat because of the time table, but also because my English is pretty bad lol.

I've been to a lot of different chats. There are even a few that is reasonable European times. Like Nicole & Christines chat every other Tuesday at 3PM (CET).
But I have more then once stayed up to attend a chat. Bingo is pretty funny and it doesn't matter if your English isn't perfect for that.
Another oppertunity is the Birthday chat and CIJ where there are events all day. That's always fun!

I keep wanting to attend that Tuesday chat, but keep missing it for different reasons. I will have to make several reminders. I did attend a few CIJ chats, that was great that there were also during our times =).

I actually work those Tuesdays so I'm never there either. But I wish I was :)
