Everyone is more than welcome to join in, the more the better. You do not have to be a Grannie, GIT or wannabe, or participate in the Grannie Thread, just believe in the power of prayer.
Lets plan to start the prayer vigil at Midnight (DSP time) on Saturday 22nd August, so that we run all the way through Sunday 23rd August.
There are two lists for those who wish to join in, one list is for between Midnight and Noon on Sunday (http://digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39731), and this list which is from Noon to Midnight on Sunday.
Please add your prayer requests in this thread so that we can think of you specifically whilst we are praying to God, remember anyone and everyone is welcome add a request. You can be as specific or as anonymous as you wish in your prayer request.
If you want to join in on the prayer chain please put your name down for a slot, you can choose more than one slot if you like and more than one person can choose one slot, but bear in mind that our aim is to have someone praying during each hour for 24 hours. So please try to fill up all the slots before duplicating, but if a particular hour is convenient for you then go ahead and select that slot even if 3 more people have chosen it too. It might be that you are all at church during that time, which is fine. Click on View Poll Results to see which slots are taken or free.
As we are all spread out over the world and working in different time zones, I thought the easiest thing to do would be to set up the poll in DSP time.

lets pray for my friend Megan. she is 33 she has had esophogus cancer that is now spread to her liver and kidney. she had a throat tumor removed two months ago and undergoing radiation. thought it was contained, but it is not. chemo is an option and she flys this month to houston for consultation. her throat cancer was a result of two years of undiagnosed ciliac (spelling)....allergy to gluetin (spelling)...she would eat and then loose her cookies. this caused throat abrasion and eventually irritated to start up cancer. we all thought she was just dieting and meant it when she said she hated food, and ate very seldom. Megan is a phoenominal person that is greatly respected and loved. Despite age difference, she is very kindred to me, and a good friend.

Prayers needed for my son who lost his girlfriend a month ago. He's still devasted and we're worried because at this time he hates live, hates the world and even hates God.
We're doing all we can to help him, but nothing seems to help cause we simply can't get through to him.I guess there's only One who can help him.
While we're praying for him we could also pray for Melissa's parents, younger brother and sister who still mourn the loss of this beautiful young girl passed away age 17.
b.t.w. I choose the 3 to 4 pm time, but could change that an hour earlier or later if needed.

Prayers please for my nephew, his wife and new baby girl, who remains hospitalized after having been delivered one month early, due to her mommy's pre eclampsia. Mommy and Daddy are also going through a personal rough patch right now and need the strenth of the Lord to work through everything. Thanks.

I know I'm not a Grannie, but I come here asking you to pray for my friend's ds. He has mesothelioma. His neighbor who also has cancer has been taking him for treatments. That man is having his leg amputated today. I don't know the neighbor man's name, but my friend's son's name is Chuckie.
P.S. I will remember your requests when I pray. :) Thank you!

I am posting this on behalf of jennilynn10
And now I have to put in a prayer request of my own. My oldest daughter Lindsay and I have been having problems for some time now. I tried to spend some special time with her on her birthday, but it didn't really change anything. Lindsay has just turned 14. For most of her life (since age of 2) she has lived with me and my DH (her step-dad). She stays with her bio-dad every other weekend and some holidays. My DH and I have raised her. But lately, she does not like or respect me, and she doesn't want to live here anymore. I am totally heart-broken, but it has been decided that she will go live with her Dad. It's in the same city, but I don't think we'll see much of her.
Things have really changed in our family in the last 5 years. I have had 2 more babies. I have also had some serious health issues, requiring 3 surgeries and numerous hospitalizations. I've had to spend lots of time in bed or resting. Obviously, that really cut back on the amount of time I could spend with each of my kids. It has been difficult for all of us.
I am asking for your prayers that moving will be the best thing for Lindsay. I can hardly see through my tears as I type this, but I feel the need to share it. I know the power of granny prayers! I love my daughter so much, and I will continue to work as hard as I can to have a close relationship with her. I really do want what's best for her, and I want her to be happy. I'm so afraid of losing her. Anyway, thanks for listening and any prayers are very much appreciated.

I am requesting prayers for my brother David who lost his middle child, Shannon age 22, in a single vehicle rollover at the end of May. I pray that he may find the strength to carry on and get through such a tragic loss. Your prayers are appreciated.

My friend Clyde who is going into the hospital for his fourth interleukin II treatment for cancer. His faith is amazing and inspirational and the largest of the 7 tumours in his lungs is shrinking.
Prayers for David and Mark - a new job for David and that Mark benefits from his treatments and his new school.
Prayers for my wonderful friend CathieMarie and for her heart issues.
Prayers for my friend Kay and her strength as she goes through a new round of treatment for her cancer.
James as he travels to England to go to college.

Prayers for my friends Linda and Jaclyn. Each have the same small bile duct liver disease I do, Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, and they have advanced to end stage.
Linda has been on the liver transplant list for 2 years. Pray she receives the "gift of life" soon. Linda has been in and out of the hospital as her liver continues to fail. Also pray for the families who suffer the loss of a loved one as they decide to donate so others may live.
Also, prayers for Jaclyn, who will receive a living donor liver transplant on Sept. 25th. Pray for her friend Resa, who will donate part of her liver to Jaclyn.

Please pray for my friend, Barb. Her breast cancer returned this spring for a third time to her lung, and she has been undergoing chemo again. This is a recent e-mail from her:
I did do chemo today and had a much-needed heart-to-heart with my doctor. I told him that I really need some quality and I have been so sick for the past week that I didn't want to go on like that. I asked if I was going to "get better", because if I was, then I would just deal with the sickness and if not, I want some quality. He said that basically we are in the "control" mode. He is just trying to control what I have and keep it from spreading to the bone and liver - but I am not going to "get better", so quality is a sensible and reasonable request. We are going to go to every other week with chemo and see if we can control on that schedule. If I still have trouble, we will try going a little farther out.
As always, my life is where it has always been - in the hands of the Lord - thankfully! We don't know what His plan is - but I find great comfort in knowing that He is in control.
Remaining In His Grip,
Barb

This also is from Barb, which I find helpful because I really don't know what to pray for her:
I re-read a verse - Romans 8:26 - which is really cool. "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." How cool is that!
Have a wonderful week, dear friend!
Love,
Barb

I tried to sign up for the 7-8 pm DSP slot which was not taken, but I was thinking that would be 6-7 p.m. my time, so I accidentally signed up for 6-7 pm DSP time. I will take the 7-8 pm DSP time slot so that all times have at least one person praying.

Also, the last time we did the 24 hour prayer vigil, I asked for prayers for Amanda Weigers whose shoulder's muscle had pulled loose again after surgery. Her doctor was recommending amputation of her entire arm as a solution to her pain. We prayed for her to find a doctor who would repair her arm. She found such a doctor at the Mayo Clinic and the surgeon rearranged several of her ligiments and muscles - successfully! She now has full use of her arm.
Prayer works because God answers prayer, but we don't always get the answer we want! So I would like to give thanks that God knows what is best and gives that best answer.

I love that verse. I use it often when I just don't know what to pray for.
Mostly it's when there are to many things going on that I need/want to pray for and I simply don't now where to start or how to find the words.
God bless your friend! She's in my prayers!

Thank you, Janet. I think there were also other concerns mentioned on the GT thread that aren't listed here, such as the stillborn birth of a grandchild. I don't remember whose it was, but God knows, so I'm adding that family to this list of prayer requests. (I've been reading the thread as time has permitted recently although I haven't contributed.)

Yesterday my son came home from a weekend trip. Saturday he visited Melissa's grave to find some comfort. There were about 250 people attending the funeral, so there's wasn't much time for a personal farewell back then. While he was there (Saturday) he met Melissa's father. They had a long and difficult conversation. The father told ds what happened exactly and why/how the discission was made to turn of the machine that was keeping Melissa alive. Ds now knows that Melissa would never be able to breath on her own again. She was in a coma and even if she would come out of that coma she wouldn't be able to move, talk, see or do anything on her own.
Somehow this private talk between ds and Melissa's dad must have helped ds at least a bit, cause when he got home yesterday it was for the first time since Melissa's death (a month ago) that he started to talk to us about his pain and devastation and how much he missed her. We're thankfull that he's at least starting to be more open about his feelings. Still praying for him thoug, cause we know there's a long road ahead.
B.t.w. ds met some young people who too came to visit Melissa's grave. They were all Melissa's friends but didn't know each other. He liked them and they liked him and so he found some new friends who are sharing there pain and sadness, but also keeping alive the happy memories they have of Melissa.
Ds say's it must have been Melissa who made sure that they all would be at her grave at the same time and became new friends. Hmmm, I think it's God's work.

I know the prayer vigil is over, but I am going to post this here anyway because I need all the prayers I can get.....
I had routine blood work done on Monday that was abnormal. It indicates a previously undiagnosed tumor in the parathyroid gland. (Part of the endocrine system, in the neck). All things being equal, I would prefer that it be a benign tumor.

I totally missed this thread earlier, but wanted to say that I am grateful to read the positive and uplifting stories that resulted from your prayers and from God, of course.
Nothing new to report on Carrie today except she is down....which means I am too. Her nurse made a comment about "worrying about your kids for the rest of your life"......and Carrie started crying because she is afraid her life won't last for very much longer. It makes me so sad when she feels this way. I am trying to be calm until we know the results of the pathology report.....

Seems to me that a lot of our DSP members are going through a difficult time and a lot of prayers are needed.
I try to catch up with the Granny thread by reading the new postings everyday, but it's pretty hard to keep track 'cause of all the different kind of "talks" that are going on there.
So I think it's nice to have a thread like this one where we can post our prayer request.
Sandy, it's heartbreaking to read that Carrie is afraid of her life. Many prayers coming her way!!!!!
