This one is a little bit similar to the Pacific Coast Highway photo but it has quite different colours - lots more green - Its a place called China Bay and its in Point Lobos State Park
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/uploads/13/chinabay.jpg

Im interested to see what colours you come up with for this

The dark brown with a swirly leafy pattern of the middle green.

The light colour with smudges of the dark all over it.

The bright green with pin stripes of the other colours going through it ... or maybe that should be the teal.

The teal with scuffed up edges and maybe a little bit scuffed all over, like it had sandpaper taken to it.

I love all the greens in this one... also love your gradient style backgrounds... how about a gradient in the greens with that wavey ripple in photo

Love the colors chosen! What a stunning photo. I'm thinking a speckled background paper, using that deep teal as the main color, with the brown and light green as the specks, kind of like granite looking.

Oh and I hope you don't stop. I don't always suggest, as usually there are so many great thoughts in your Clue threads, but I read them and keep up with them. And they ALWAYS turn out so beautiful.

I hope you don't stop either -- I haven't been around much, because of family obligations and a death in the family; but enjoy watching your beautiful kits grow and come together, when I have a few minutes to get online.
An aqua crinkled gradient paper with grungy edges?
A whitish parchment paper, almost translucent?

Shana34

I love the green paper! How about a dark brown paper with a small wildflower pattern or with a grungy dot texture in the tan?

Betsyfru

I'd love a harlequin paper, all grungy, and maybe one of those swirly marbled papers that you do so well.

Betsyfru

By the way, I have a photo or 2 of this place! I was there in November one year, looks a bit different then, had lots of swirly kelp in the water!

I don't think it's a lack of interest, Lauren, I think it's a shortage of time!

It's a beautiful photo, and I love that green background!

I'd like to see a beige paper with smudges of the dark brown. . . kinda like whispy cirrus clouds

MarsOlson

love the green background

a background with the cream like a rough handmade paper with brown flecks of natural materials, maybe even a few flecks of the blue

I am very interested in this challenge. I love these challenges. The only reason I didn't participate in color swatches is because I just started nursing school monday and sunday is my day to study and get house work done. If it was tomorrow I would have been all over it.

Oooh, gorgeous! How about a paper with the lightest color, with a mulberry texture using one of the darker colors, and in one corner there's an overlay of tree branches curling around... not explaining this very well!

a mossy rock or just moss

a waterfall coming off some rocks. (idk why but it just keeps popping into my mind when I see these papers)

I love that frame. Lauren, I'm always looking for interesting grounding elements... I'm not sure what that would be exactly, typically a ribbon or other element that can go horizontal... maybe something with a hint of horizon on it? Or a torn paper strip with a type of fastener attached?

Rusty staples to anchor the frame element or a rusty braid.

I agree withthe others Lauren that its not a lack of interest its just a really busy time of the year! Look how many responses you're getting now andfrom so many different people. Please don't give it up again - its the first thing loads of us turn to when we can get online.

I absolutely LOVE those papers - especially that tree and the battered brown! How about an overlay or a rough frame for the whole page. Something grungy and rocky would be great.

Dried flowers
a journaling mat that is worn on the edges, like old newspaper or something that got wet

It really doesnt matter if its lack of interest or people being busy - if I get no suggestions in 20 hours then kits arent going to be made and they wont get in the store - in 20 hours I can make an entire kit or more so its better use of my time!!
Anyway next element is coming up...........

The strip of paper looks like we should be writing clues on it to where the treasure is hidden, or as if it was in a bottle.

I know this doesn't quite go with the picture, but something tall like the flower/seedpods of a flax bush. Black and maybe some of them twisted open.

Then you could have a scattering of seeds as well.

Im thinking with only 2 more elements it needs at least one more " scrapbooky " thing - dont you think.............- we have journalling or titling sorted with the paper strip - we have framing sorted with 2 frames - we have touched grounding with the staple ------ but it feels like its missing a vital element and I just cant put my finger on it

The flax is fabulously perfect!!!

Maybe something round... a grungy circle stamp or a circle of stitching (sorry that's not your favourite thing to do is it).

Or maybe it needs something small that could go on the corner of the frame to decorate it.... twisted seed pod with a straw flower or some succulent style leaves with maybe a small rock or something....

TalyQ
08-26-2009, 02:05 AM
I agree that it needs something equivalent of a ribbon - but natural
and also something for a corner of a frame, a little grouping of something
