I've been told that it's possible to capture a frame from cinefilm/digital camcorder and make it into a photograph. We took very few photos of my DD as she was growing up as we captured her on cine camera and later on camcorder. Now that I am a scrapper, I realise the error of my ways and wish I had photos of all those special occations as I'd really love to make some scrapbooks for her. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about doing this. I'm sure theres an easier way than pausing the film then taking a digiphoto of the TV screen :eek::eek:

you can try something like this if your video is on dvd/cd

I put my digital video on the computer then take screenshots at moments where I pause the playback for the moments I want. Sadly, the quality is nowhere as good.
I used to like to film too, but now that I scrap I realize how much more useful my photos are for some moments.
My plan for when I have kids is me on a camera and DH on digital video duty. Then we will have both.

Assuming you have everything in digital format it's fairly easy. (My brother recently had a whole lot of cine films put onto DVD - it wasnt that expensive to have done - we split the cost between the family)
You capture frames in photoshop elements - Import frame from video - so presumably you can do that in Photoshop itself and probably other graphics editors.
I have a Canon camera and the Zoombrowser software that came with allows you to capture stills from the little movies it makes. Presumbably other camera software also has this capability.

most video software offers a screen capture for a still shot of the video, its not always good quality though, so you might have to work with it a bit
