Hi all,

I've been lurking awhile and decided it's time to introduce myself. I've always loved the idea of scrapbooking, but I'm just not a craft-type person. I also love working with photos and have been working steadily to archive all of our family photos, and I've been working to get down my parents' stories and my in-law's stories. Both sets of parents are rapidly approaching their 50th wedding anniversaries and I want to get their pics and stories down somehow as a gift...and to do a slide show for whatever parties we throw. And, since so many images have been locked away for years in slides, I've gotten a slide scanner for the thousands of photos on both sides of the family. That, in turn, has turned into a home based business that I've started to get off the ground, Snow Moon Imaging Services which I find incredibly rewarding. It's great to be able to help people get those images into a more usable format. Some of the images I've been working with have been "locked up" in slide format for 50 years!

My husband and I can't have kids, and I think I've finally come to terms with that. If we had kids, we wouldn't be doing all the various things we are doing! I volunteer with Samoyed Rescue, we have 5 Samoyeds of our own (one I need to get out in the show ring and another I really should find time to do obedience and/or agility), I dabble with genealogy (my and my husband's family and helping a bit locally with look ups) and I work/volunteer for our local historical society as registrar/archivist. One of my many loves with history is oral history...basically going back to getting people's stories down.

One day I typed in digital scrapbooking into a search engine and took one look at what you guys are doing and decided THAT was the answer to my lack of "craft skills". I'm SO glad I found you guys! Now to get off of here to let dh get back to upgrading my computer now that I've gotten hooked...

Welcome, welcome! So glad you've joined us!

What program are you using or would like to use? Where do you want to start? Let us know, we'll point you to the right place for your info.

There's a Scrap without Kids in the Chat Room at 4pmEST on Mother's Day, especially for scrappers w/o children. Good to meet some others in our community who have plenty of other things to scrap! So pull out a project and join along, info here:

Good luck with the big cataloging project! Again we're always here for answers and questions :)

Thanks for the welcome!

I've used Micrographx Picture Publisher for quite a few years to size and work with photos for archiving/cataloging purposes, and after looking through various recommendations and the checkbook balance, decided to go with PSP8 and am currently on a steep learning curve with that. I've appreciated all the tutorial links shared!

I love all the challenges as well! They've really gotten me to give a go at starting somewhere with all of the projects I keep chunking away at. I really like the fact that if I don't like it, I can just hit "undo"! And the inspiration that comes from the gallery...WOW...you guys are fabulous and set a great goal to reach. :)

Hope to be sharing some layouts soon!

Thanks for the welcome! :) I'm having a ball learning from everyone! Busy is good...

The pup, Ullr (pernounced Ooo-ler, the Norse god of snow) is one we bred a little over 3 years ago that came back this winter. The owner had a life change that didn't include Ullr and all my puppy people know that I'll take any pup back at any time in their lives for any reason. The pup we kept from the litter is *thrilled* to have a playmate that can keep up with her energy level, so instead of placing him again, he'll just stay with the pack here.
