lovely colors!

how about... a folded fabric, or wrinkled fabric BG paper, with a check design, like a quilt...
or, a crinkled red paper with light tan pattern (floral? check? gingham?), but the tan is very faded, and stronger in some spots, lighter in others. Or a grungy, old faded paper with the dark brown and tan / dark blue and light blue?

Oh, that's great. I am so happy. But actually it's my mom's quilt. I named the swatch grandmother's quilt because she usually puts it on the grass under her birch tree for the grandchildren to play on. The photo I cropped this sample from has one of the grandchildren sitting on it. I have several pictures with that quilt and it will be great scrapping them.

I'd like to see a dark brown paper with some tiny creamy dots or tiny flowers on it.
Maybe also a paper with a combination of the darker and lighter teals - woven together perhaps?

Wonderful, wonderful colors!!!!!! Grandmother's quilt....well, I would really love to see a background looking the same as the quilt and a cotton textured, diagonal striped one.

With Autumn coming...

I'd like to see the brown/orange... with like... leaves stamped in them.. maybe just every so lightly...

I just love the Threads in the quilt..

Is there a way to like pull up threads some how in one of the paper... to make it more textured..

I do like Talq idea for the woven paper - but could it be a little 3-d-ish.. like with drop shadows.. just ever to slightly.. I've seen them.. They make great photo templates...

I really like the browny square almost as it is - how about a BG like that?
A shabby fabric BG with pulled threads like its unravelling?

I love the cream square with the red highlights. How about a background like that, with some diagonal stitching/texture like you'd find on a quilt?

How about using the squares of the quilt to make the backgrounds. I really like the brown square, the "tye-dye" rust and cream, the blue with the flowers, the brown with the cream dots - oh heck I guess I like the all!!

those are really great colors. . . even if they aren't a little girl hitting a pinata ;)

How about a cotton texture in the tan, with single threads of the brown and rust running through it?

LOL Raphne - OK off to create...;)

I went with the suggestions for...

* dark brown with cream dots
* shabby fabric with pulled threads
* cream with red highlights with stitching like a quilt
* pale blue with darker blue trailing leaves (I thought we need a bit of contrast instead of the suggested brown/orange)

Also done if you want to include it in this kit is a quilt of all the BG's but I'll make it into a mat? Would you like that as one of the elements?

OK start making those element suggestions... :)

Buttons! Quilts always make me think of buttons, tied with yarn lol

TalyQ
09-09-2009, 01:38 AM
Maybe a cluster of fabric swatches (as an alternative to a quilted mat - or in addition to it)
Of course buttons and some ribbons (maybe a ribbon like a spiral a bit (wound up and then one end loose)
A fabric frame with stitching (square)
A little cluster - a fabric circle, stitched through with a few buttons attached and maybe dangling ribbon

mini rolls of fabric with a ribbon around them like you would buy mini rolls of fabric to quilt with

Love Erica's suggestion for the quilt mat! How about a needle with sewing-thread and some bobbins (is that the right word?)

I would love to see little threads, like, that we can use to "tie" the corners of our photo. I'm thinking, they stick up, like the ties in a quilt, you know? the ones in the centers of squares to hold the batting down?

maybe some embroidered elements? like a flower only it's embroidered, or a heart or even a cozy word art in thread.

I love all these ideas...it's tough to come up with a new one. LOL I like the idea of the quilt as the mat. Maybe a square with a flower or leaf stitched in?

I love the Quilt mat idea!

And, for buttons, can we have different kinds, like maybe -
Rounds with Threads in them
Flower Shaped
Some like maybe - oh, what are 6 side buttons.. sorry early in the morning.

Oh, maybe a brad.. like a pearl brad in one of the colors..

How about a needle and thread with some beads in the blues, melons, pinks and browns on it. Some "stitches" to hold things down. Word art Made With Love

Raphne

ooooh, a little tag with that word art, "made with love", or "handmade with love"

I always wanted in a kit and have yet to see padded buttons like one sees in an upholstered sofa.

This kit begs for stitches, I would love to stitched flowers and leaves but not an outline the full flowere and leaf should be stitched.

Like the idea of the rolled and tied pieces of fabric bundle thingy.
And the ties of yarn and definitely some stitching
What about some batting or a thimble or a spool (or two) of thread?

I love the idea of the quilt mat, but how about fraying the edges a little

Erica
09-11-2009, 07:05 PM
Here are some of the elements:

* quilt of the backgrounds
* metal bobbin
* wooden embroidery hoop
* 3 x buttons - flower, padded and flat
* 2 x knotted threads - can be re-sized for button or photo holder

Still working on the last 3...

Last three elements have been added:

* applique butterfly (instead of a flower)
* blanket stitching
* hand made stitched label

So now it's time to choose a name for our new kit...
