Here's one for you...new computer, ACDSee on; have 2 external hard drives. One has the kits. ACDSee seems to be showing the right mapping (under Tools/Optionn/Browser). The problem arises when the 2nd EHD is plugged in. Then ACDSee can't find the files.
This does not make sense to me at all. If it's mapped right, and the letters of the EHDs stay the same, why won't it see the files?

Norma, are you saying both hard drives have the same data? Or you have two hard drives with different sets of data?

The files are all on one EHD...not the other. It doesn't make any sense to me; if it has the right path, why is it getting confused? There are 3 on the other ehd...I'll take them off and see what happens. But don't think could be the problem...do you?

Thinking about this a little ... Not sure how "the right mapping (under Tools/Optionn/Browser)" relates... that is just the default folder that ACDSee starts up.
The true mapping is really found if you go to Database > Database Maintenance and seeing where all the little green icons are (or blue for for orphans).
You say it's a new computer ... how did you get the ACDSee database moved from one to the other?
If you only have the one EHD plugged in (the one with your kits, etc), ACDSee doesn't have any problems finding things? Do a category search, make sure it finds image, and double click on the file to verify that the database really does know where to find things, not just the thumbnails.

Tried the maintenance and it didn't show any green icons. And the database of kits was always on the one ehd; but got another for backup. I think it's just weird...have tried everything. It'll work with just that one ehd plugged in...but not if both are plugged in.
