hey, guys. maggie was diagnosed this afternoon with the H1N1 flu. molly was starting to run a temp before bed.... the on-call nurse said that it sounded like molly's coming down with it.... whoops! molly just came down - she's running a 102.6... fortunately, the nurse said that we probably won't have to go in again; we can just have them call in a prescription for the second (and third and fourth) kids.

anyway... this is a loooooooooong story, just to tell you that i am going to postpone introducing our fab challenge until next monday. i'm so sorry to tease you guys... but it will be worth it... :) :) and in the meantime, i'm thinking that i'll be curled up on the couch between four sick kiddos for the next few days... wish me luck... this just really stinks. i'm trying to get the silver lining thing... i'm hoping that if they go through this, we won't have to worry about this swine flu thingie any more..... right?

sigh.

Hope it runs its course quickly and without too much pain! And I sure hope that if they have it, you don't have to worry about it again!!!

I'm playing nurse at our house too... bronchiolitis, but the more I read the more questions I have about the source (a flu strain, RSV, etc.). We go to our regular pediatrician tomorrow We were in the ER last night), so hopefully more information will be forthcoming.

Oh Suz ... sorry to hear this. Amy has just got over a 4 week long sinusitis with the help of antibiotics. I hope your little kiddos don't suffer and will be thinking of them over the next week.
As far as bringing in the challenge ..... when ever you are ready and the extra time will just allow everyone to have a fun guessing what it will involve :D.

:yikes:Oh my darling! I am so sorry.:worried: We are working out how we are going to handle H1N1 at the hospital. I bet your just as confused as we are. Rest, Tamiflu if indicated, symptom control, and a day at a spa when this is over if all called for.
 That's for all of you, Suzi. We'll be patient. :love2:

:D Thank you! I realize that it isn't politically correct. But ok, I can live with that. We now have a policy of no children under the age of 12 visiting in the hospital until March 30th when the flu season is "over". I KNOW that I will be on the receiving end of some phone calls from nurses telling me to chase out mother's little darlings. We have already gone through the berating from a family member bringing a runny nosed 8 year old to see someone in OB with a new baby. (What do you mean I can't bring my son in!!! I"m going to talk to adminstration. Ok, be my guest, let me show you the door to that office. But really, how rude and insensitive to bring a sick child to see an infant that this child could care less about at this point AND infect this infant with whatever your child has. RUDE and SELFISH...) Unless I come down with H1N1 first I'll be getting the vaccine next week. But I am sure that I have been exposed working in the ER.
Suzanne, my darling, whatever I/we can do to make your time being the caretaker of sick kiddo's I'll be happy to do. You have got to be going a bit nuts right now.

Down in the San Diego area about a 20 minute drive from Debbie. LOL I am terrible at geography so I had to see where Apple Valley is in comparison to where we go out to the high desert in 29 Palms area for some R&R at our family homestead cabin. A little farther north than I would have guessed.

Good for your hospital!!! I wish all hospitals would adopt that stand! Hopefully you won't have to encounter too many disgruntled visitors.

Wendy, that is a great soap box to be on. People can be so selfish sometimes, and flu season is just not the time for that!

Sorry to hear this Suz!! I highly recommend virgin hot toddies if one can tolerate the ingredients....hot lemonade, honey, and a cinnamon stick to stir it all up....even the kiddos can share this one. :)

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm playing about the four-hundredth game of sequence in the past few days....... ughhhhhhhhh. so, if you want to help, come play board games with my stir-crazy kids.... they're so mad at me because i won't let them play with friends... but i don't know if the boys are suddenly going to start having symptoms..... i'm going to feel like a ninny for keeping them home (the boys) all week... but jeez, if i didn't, it's a sure bet that the whole school would be infected.........

You are doing the right thing not letting them play with friends. DS was sick a few weeks ago and I wouldn't let DD go to her friends house. I said, How bad do you think I'm going to feel when her whole family gets sick? It's not worth the risk. I hope you are all well soon

Mandy is LoD!!!:yahoo:

And as for your question about geography....if you take the 15/215 freeway north towards Las Vegas we are right on the way there. Or about 2.5 hours from the San Diego area. Our big claim to fame is/was Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. They are both buried about 5 minutes from my home. (and we are about 2 hrs. from Las Vegas)

When the twins were born (9/24) the Louisville, KY area had already banned children under 12 from hospital visits.

lol, thank you, you guys! :) i know - i am sure that i'd be wanting to kiss the mother who kept kids home as a precaution.....

so, my big dilemma is... do i send sam tomorrow? we've only been fever-free since friday... if the incubation is 7 days, he could come down with it as late as next friday..... sooooo torn!

Yep, keep them home! (that's not meant bad BTW) Since I just got my son home from the hospital from complications due to croup, I'm terrified to take him anywhere! So I go to the store one evening, so I don't have to take him, and a lady is there with her daughter who has swine flu! Are you kidding me? She did have a mask on but she still probably has germs all over her and she is touching everything. Suz, I know how you feel about stir crazy, we aren't going anywhere until the swine flu peak is on it's way down! DH is going to the store after work and I get to stay home! But it's better than sitting in ICU for a week!!
