I'm running Windows 7 on my system at work, but I didn't actually have to perform the upgrade myself...one of my coworkers was nice enough to do that for me while I was away for a week. :) I was told it was pretty painless though.

I just installed it! I had the downloadable version pre-ordered. Install has been really easy, even though I was setting up a dual boot with XP. I didn't even have to burn a disc, it executed from within XP and I could do more than just an upgrade from there, installed to a new partition on a totally different physical drive.
I should note though that I had previously tried the RC.

I bought a new laptop in September that gets the free Windows 7 update. Now, I'm just waiting for Gateway to send it to me! I'm glad to hear that it's pretty easy to do!

If you belong to Costco, they have a super deal. We purchased a package that allows three upgrades. It cost $125 for all three ... if you don't belong, that alone might make it worth the joining fee.
I just finished backing everything up onto my EHD. At least, I hope I remembered everything. I'm running Vista, but my DH and I are going to do a 'clean' install instead of an over-install. In yesterday's paper, there was an article (http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2009/oct/22/techno-buddy-dont-just-dump-windows-7-your-compute/) that recommended doing just that.

Oh, and here's another useful link (http://tinyurl.com/y8ug48t) that came from the above-mentioned article.

I am done with the installation. Have to find the information for recreating my email accounts ... forgot about that I would need it. I just need to go onto my son's computer and get the smtp stuff. Looks pretty good so far, except for some large type.

I noticed a huge issue with very slow image thumbnail loading in Windows 7 after I installed the upgrade. It was soooo annoying. It affected only my scrap supply and photo images, both of which were stored on one EHD.
I decided that maybe the EHD was the culprit, but it also happened from my backup EHD, and copying the folders over to the C drive - which would have fixed the issue - was so slow it was non existent and I had to cancel out the process.
I did end up googling this and found that the thumbnail issue was due to having my images on a network (not stored on my PC) and finally found a fast/easy fix that worked like a charm - my thumbnails load very quickly now! So I thought I'd share the info with you in case you also notice really, really slow thumbnail loading and that stupid green bar in explorer literally crawling across the top.
PLEASE NOTE!!!! Do this at your own risk - it's a service you can toggle off and on - so I would recommend creating a restore point first, and turning it back on if you think having it off is causing more trouble - if you aren't using an EHD or having problems, I would NOT recommend changing these settings.
"You may experience poor file copy performance over the network in Windows 7 PCs. This could be caused by the Wndows “Remote Differential Compression” engine. Remote Differential Compression is a Windows feature introduced in Windows Server 2003 and is available on all later versions of Windows. This Windows feature is enabled by default in Windows 7.
Remote Differential Compression (RDC) allows data to be synchronized with a remote source using compression techniques to minimize the amount of data sent across the network. RDC is different from patching-oriented differencing mechanisms, such as Binary Delta Compression (BDC), that are designed to operate only on known versions of a single file. BDC requires the server to have copies of all versions of the file, and differences between each pair of versions are precomputed so that they can be distributed efficiently from a server to multiple clients.
There seems to be a problem with this Windows 7 and disabling this feature resolves the problem with slow file copy performance.
To disable Remote Differential Compression,
1. Click Start – Control Panel – Programs – Turn Windows features on or off

2. Uncheck “Remote Differential Compression” and click OK.
3. Restart the computer and you should see an improved performance with copying files.
If there is a similar problem in your Windows Vista PC, you may try this and check if this helps.
