Wow what a photo!
I would like to see the red used as a background. Maybe the offwhite could be used in a fanned out pattern like the bricks within the red.

Maybe a background that smudges several colors together like the reflection in the water.

Oh my heavens!!! What a GORGEOUS photo! I like the thatching look and color of the roof for a background, or the limestone rock look of the house.

That photo is to die for!!!!
A paper with the texture (looks thatched) of the roof using the a combination of the brown and greens.

I love watercolors so would love to see a muted, blended smudging of colors that perhaps as some reflection within.

How about a cream paper with a harlequin-like pattern in the brown, but with the horizontal lines in the diamond like on the castle?
Scrapping4Him
10-26-2009, 02:16 AM
a paper with that wonderful texture of the wall - maybe with a similar brick design around the edges

oh and BTW - absolutely love that thatched roof texture!!! You can almost feel that roughness under you hand when you look at it!

The muddy wall colour maybe with a hint of the red geraniums around it.
Waterlily leaves bg.. or maybe that might be better as an element?

stone/slate bg - a kind of beigey marble...

and I added a weathered tile floor bg

Top Kit: A touch of the geraniums in a bg... not sure if a whole floral bg is quite right, so maybe lots of leaves with the odd flower.
Bottom Kit: A watery grey/blue bg with ripples and hints of leaves around the edge... like the bank of a river or where the water meets the waterlillies.

A rectangular wrought iron frame
A circular brick frame

I love the idea Mars hinted to here - an edge of the riverbank just like in the photo with grass growing over the edge, untouched by man.

Oh and I want to bump up Fiona's idea for the waterlily leaves. Maybe there could be a flower with that as well.

That photo has so much detail and really is sparking ideas.
How about some iron hooks to hang a frame from, maybe the wrought iron from could have eyelets on it.

I would like to see the old water wheel incorporated into an element...maybe a cog or a frame or a time piece.

I'm thinking Mandy's circular frame should look a little like the one in your avatar.
Yes please for a water lily (although not sure how that will work with the cute geraniumns).

Or maybe a round wooden frame for the bottom kit - maybe with a removal divider?
Something tall like a maypole with curly ribbons hanging down from it.
Terracotta pots or pieces of broken pots with sprinkles of dirt.
Wooden corners - like the braced part of the balcony. Rounded rather than just 45 degrees.
Feel like their should be two white swans just sailing past... but that might be from watching repeats of "The Tudors" late at night.

I love the staircase, with the stone archway underneath, maybe something similar to one of those.
An embankment with a little grass.
An old cottage sign for journaling.

Lynnie
10-27-2009, 05:35 PM
swan, ivy, chains for wooden frame, branch to hang the chains from, more flowers, log, confetti swallows, a beam of wood or a plank (good for titling or use with flowers), title for each one - something like "peace" and "quiet" in a wood or bark, bark for journaling, nail, spider web, appleblossoms
Uhm - if there were birds, I'd suggest worms (haha)

I'd love to see a frame like the circular window.
I tried the round frame idea a couple of different ways but it really ended up looking like a lifebouy!!- So I went for a square border type frame
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/500/Gimme1_71.JPG
and for the second kit I added the brick work as a separate element so you can use it however you want

A piece of parchment for journalling on, about 4x6 size, a little tattered and dog eared.
Still thinking a circular wooden frame could be good in the bottom kit.
Some plaited silk ribbons to hang down and maybe some horizontal too.

So Lynnie ( and I think someone else ) - asked for a swan - so I had to make one seeing im on a painting birds kick at the moment - only that meant that I had to make a pond to put the swan on - and now I need to do a complete revamp of one of the kits because it just doesnt work otherwise - so hold fire ------- samples coming

OMG - WOWOWOWOWOW!!! The pond and swan are stunning!
For kit 1:
- I have to ditto Mars - we need some lilly pads and maybe a couple of them in bloom
- a couple of coordinating ribbons to kit 2's ribbon that are dangling and lightly twirled
For kit 2:
- how about a copper watering can those geraniums could be planted in.
- a lightly winding path of broken edged flagstone
- a horizontal ribbon, folded and stitched down
