I recently received a few prints that I ordered. Too say I am blown away- would be an understatement. :yahoo:
I only sent in a few pages- just to see what they would look like, wow oh wow. When I did searches & asked for referral's, this business came up as the cheapest at $1.99, & I don't think I had a reply to anyone using them.

Customer service? YES!!!! They contacted me a few times because one of my first pages I made was not saved right... a bit grainy.. & requested I do it in 300dpi or whatever its called. Still learning. And then because I didn't know how to fix it, they did not charge me for it, & still sent the print. Which to me looks fine. LOL Not like the others... but ok.
Realize also- these are my first prints- so I don't have anything to compare them too. The only problem I see is that the bottom of the page was cut off a bit. Which I thought would happen when I looked at the pre approval pics.
I did some research & I am still unclear as to what size I should make the layout for printing. Is there a chart somewhere? LOL I read the DSP articles & I must be dense.
Thank Y'all, I hope you use Scrapping Simply

First, congrats on getting your first prints ... it is awesome isn't it? I love the digital side and being able to share in different ways, but creating something that can be held and touched is just great! I am glad you are happy with the results!

You asked about what size ... I am assuming you mean to avoid a little bit on the edges being cut off? When an image gets printed, the image is typically enlarged just a tiny bit to make sure that the image covers the entire surface. Usually it is 1/8" - 1/4", but you never can be sure exactly how much or in which direction. Typically you can do a couple things to minimize the impact ... (1) when you design your pages, be careful what you put near the edges so that if it gets cropped off a little, you won't miss it. (2) reduce the size of your image a touch (1/4" or so in total horizontally and vertically) so that there is a border around the edge (white, black, or a tone to match the LO) - you can then either leave the border in place, or you can trim your prints when you get them.

Keep in mind, that you are likely the only who will notice (text being run off the page might be the exception).

I will say that if you plan on having any bound books done, this is definitely something you want to think about and plan for - taking special care around the edges and what is in the gutter (where the pages go into the spine of the book).

You can also talk to the company that prints your pages and see what suggestions they have.
