Featured Kit - SNOW QUEEN December 8 - 21

My featured kit for December 8 - December 21 is

This wintry kit was inspired by the short story "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Anderson, a favorite story of mine when I was a child. It was a lot of fun for me to try to create a page kit including some of the elements from the story. I HAD to have one of Gerda's roses of course, and the ice covered window from her cottage. I added a few berries from the witch's garden, and an antler from the reindeer that carried Gerda to the Snow Queen's palace. The gold bow represents the gold that was stolen by the thieves. I hope you'll enjoy using this kit as much as I did making it!

Originally I had intended for this kit to be done in the same style as Snow Queen, (i.e., not quite so cutesy!) but once I started making the little animals, they sort of took on a life of their own! The kits do compliment each other nicely though, with interchangeable backgrounds and matching frames.

Carole, am I so excited about this bonus! We made a donation in my dd's preschool teacher's name to help sponsor a polar bear at the zoo as her Christmas gift, so the polar bear in the bonus will be perfect for her card.

My layout is the Christmas newsletter that we send out each year. I didn't have any Christmas pictures, so I stayed up half the night trying to figure out how to make it, when at 3:00 a.m. it hit me to try something unconventional this year.

This photo of my mother and aunt was damaged and not too clear so I blended it into the winter snow background. I love the bright red accents with the cool wintery tones in this kit.
