Embossing

What's the easiest way to make embossed elements? I saw somewhere, don't remember where, a block font that looked like it was embossed. I want to be able to make it as an element to put on any page, not make it as I'm making the page, KWIM?
I'm using Corel PhotoPaint.

There is now a short tutorial in our tutorials section on how to use the boss filter for embossing in Photopaint. :)

You might also play around with the settings in the emboss filter under the Effects> 3D effects > Emboss.

In PS and PSE uou could also draw in your shape and fill it on a new layer then apply an inner bevel and then reduce the fill opacity of your new layer to 0 ( You can play and add some other things like a light inner shadow as well if you desire)
