DH was asking today if I could take a photo and colorize different sections to make it look like popart. I know I can, just am so new that I don't know the most efficient way to do it. This is the pic. I want to play with. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=26048&cat=500&page=1 I want to make her jacket one color, glasses another, skin another, etc.
Thanks for any advice...I'm using photoshop 6

I would probaby just use a soft edged brushes and color each part on a different layer. Just turn you opacity way down. You can use your selection tools (probably lasson) to select just the area to want to color for each layer.
Does anyone else have other ideas?

You can do this with color balance as well, but it is a more difficult task. You'll basically have a color balance layer for each item you want colorized. The color balance icon is at the bottom of the layers palette (a half black/half white circle)
If you want to give this a try and would like specific directions, I am happy to help...just let me know

Here's how to give her an "Andy Warhol" effect if your husband would be interested in that kind of pop art.

You guys are awesome! I just read the tutorials without trying them, cause I didn't have time. Tonight I had a few minutes and decided to quickly see what I came up with. Here are the fruits of my *brief* labor.
This is the first:
