I feel like I'm hogging the board over here LOL!! Am I the only one who can't figure these things out??

When using the text tool and using a font with varying sizes, I'm having trouble with the kerning (is that the right word -- the space between the lines??)

Here's an example of what I mean:

In the journalling, I tried to make some words larger, but it made the spaces between the lines uneven even though I used the same font sizes on each larger word. In my mind, if all the lines contained font of a specific size, shouldn't all the lines be evenly spaced? Adjusting the kerning option didn't help in this case. I also had some wierd looking stuff with the letters themselves but when I flattened, those disappeared (the first letters didn't resize on my original).

Do I need to do each line separately? I really don't like that option since then I have to line them up manually, but if it's the only way .... sigh....

PSP IMO doesn't do text very well for word art.. or maybe there is an easier way that I don't know about. I do my text in vector, and I usually end up doing one line or even word at a time. That way each word or line is individually selectable and then I can move them around like I need to. When it is how I like it, I covert the whole layer to raster and save as PNG. Now I can put it into my layout

Kerning is the space between letters
k e r n

Leading is the space between lines, like Single or Double spacing

So try selecting all the words in the Text Entry box and adjust the Leading space

I like PSP text, I think it's better than PSE by far with more options. However, when resizing for the web, I have to flatten my PSP layouts because often the way the vector text resizes looks weird, or just not quite the same

OK, I meant the leading LOL!! I always get those two confused and when I posted this, I didn't have PSP open and was too lazy to go open it again to remind myself which one I needed.

My *leading* (pounding it into my head) isn't coming out even with different sizes of the same font on the line. Emma, is there a way to fix this or should I be doing each line in a different "text box" (again, I'm not sure what it's called but so that each line has a different entry on the vector layer in the layer palette)

I've never had this "crooked" leading. Try use a larger font size and seeing how that helps. Jasc tech support would be a better choice since this sounds like a program hiccup
