Erica’s Going Grunge Challenge April

Nominated products are both backpacks: Shades Of Linen - Winter (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_21&products_id=11540), or Highland Mist (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_245&products_id=10433). You can use either of the backpacks to create your layout.

Challenge Instructions:

Using the Tutorial as a guide, create your take on my example of creating a brush using a photo.
Use one of the backgrounds from either of the backpacks (or use more than one if you like) to create your finished LO using your brush.
Add elements from any DSP Kit if you want to complete how you want the final page to look. In the comment part of your upload, please tell us what blend modes you used if any to complete your LO, and which BG paper you used.

Download the tutorial here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../freebies/Erica/GrungyChallenge/Tutorial_MakingAGrungyBrush.zip)

Posting Bonus - Natures Linen - The Naturals Back Pack

Really simple rules:

You can complete as many layouts as you want but at least one has to be in the Erica's Going Grunge Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/showgallery.php?cat=7721) and if it’s doing double/triple duty elsewhere I will need a link to your LO in this forum as I need to find you to make comments.
You can use other designer’s products in conjunction with the nominated product. Only DSP products please - nominated product or other.

If anything is not clear please just ask any questions here and have fun finding your inner grunge.

Thanks for the heads up Jan
:mad: I hate it when that happens, must be something to do with using the last months word doc and inserting the links, I KNOW I put the right ones it but some how it changes it either that or the Easter Bunny's playing tricks  all fixed

Well, I got to playing with the tutorial, and was forced, I tell you, forced to learn things about PSCS that I had never explored! Thanks, Erica, for a great tutorial. I ended up doing this for Eskdale Dawn, so will need to go back and get the backgrounds to do the real deal for this challenge...

Erica, this was a fabulous tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to write down the steps for making a grunge brush. I had a great time and made several brushes from the same photo. There were so many possibilities for grungy brushes there.

I used the tutorial and made a brush, I made it a darker blue and stamped all over the background paper. I used Tinas mask over the photo and then copied the background paper applied it to the top used the multiply mode at 57% opacity.

This was only my second time using Photoshop, but after a few fits and starts I was able to follow through with the brush tutorial. To tell the truth, the biggest hurdle was figuring out how to open a new file, lol!
