We have a fairly new (~1 yr) hp Scanner, which I am very pleased with. It has an Automatic photo feeder, a slide/negative adapter, and produces great results. However, the scanning software that came with it (from HP, something like "HP Photo & Imaging") is HORRIBLE. After each batch of scans, it locks up and takes a long time to finally launch a terribly broken, completely unnecessary and frightfully unusable "Gallery" application. Additionally, when scanning, it doesn't actually save the scan until it has shown this gallery.
So, do any of you know of a way to replace this, improve it, or get new (3rd-party) software?
Your help is coveted; this has mad me more than indignant.

check this out.

when I upgraded to OS X, my Vista Scan software wouldn't work. I've had pretty good luck with Vue Scan. It's not free, but not real costly either.

I'm pretty sure you can download a trial version.

I just scan through PS.

Well, I do use PS for some work, but it is a lot faster to let use the APF and just let it rip when scanning in prints (which we have LOADS of...). It can thus run unattended.
