My favourite gift has become a bottle of wine with a personalized label - I have posted an example & what I do http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=324
Take care, Meryl

I have them printed onto a large label, then use a Stanley knife to cut out then just peel & stick. So glad you like them!

Stupid question... but do you take the original label off? and then how? I love the idea, Meryl.

I have posted another wine label in the gallery, very similar to others i've done but thought some may have missed first time and would like to use the idea.
I just soak off the old label, polish the glass nicely, meths is good, and then stick on the new - I have them printed on self adhesive sheets. My new one, done for my brother is in the gallery:

I know this is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but could you do the same thing with beer bottles? Obviously for a gag gift, not an elegant gift such as wine.
I'm thinking beer bottle labels wouldn't come off so easily though.

I'm sure a beer label would be fantastic!

Meryl - do you have any idea of where I would find a template for that? Did you create your own template for the wine or is there some wonderful site out there that has these?
I just tried to peel off a beer bottle label and it was not pretty. Maybe soaking it hot water? BTW - what is "meths"?

Andy, yes i did make mine - very easy to do - just measure what size you want to end up and make it just as you would do a layout. Soak the label off and scrub the bottle clean, then stick on the one you have made.
Meths.............. methylated spirits? know that? anything spirity to help clean the gluey bottle!

Very nive idea Meryl. They look great.
I do have a question. How do you make the labels waterproof? I would have thought, especially with White Wine chilling in the fridge that the ink would run. Do you print them on an inkjet?

Thanks, glad you like them. Waterproof? I have mine printed on a colour laser and have not had them run at all. I'm sure if you really wet and rub you may run into trouble.
