It's been a while since anyone asked this question. My colleague uses a MAC and she's just got hooked on scrapping, she's asked me which softwear I would recommend. Personally I would say Adobe Photoshop, mainly because it's the only one I've used (I don't have a MAC - yet!!!) and I know most graphic designers who use MAC's like Adobe Photoshop.

Anyone got any other suggestions (I want to impress her, she's my bosses boss):eek::eek:

Omio, Debilou and Karen RVer all use Macs I think, maybe Scamp too? No doubt they will be along with advice for you Cathie:)

I use a both Mac and a PC and use Photoshop on both (CS3 on the PC and CS4 on the Mac) and have every intention of upgrading both to CS5 at my earliest chance. Being that I can use the program for scrapping, photo editing, and my other graphic design projects, I can't imagine using anything else.

I got a copy of Photoshop Elements with the Wacom tablet I bought, so when I bought my Mac mini in February, that was what I put on! I had used PSE 3 on my PC, so it was an easy move over/up to PSE 6 on the Mac. The nice thing about any photoshop is that there are so many experts available here at DSP!

My son, Andrew, has MAC --- guess what he uses ---- Adobe Photoshop CS4. (But he is DYING for CS5).

I'm using PSE8 because I'm not rich enough for the real deal :) Beauty of the mac version is that it comes with Bridge CS4 instead of the stupid organiser. I'm so glad I switched.

I have a Mac and I scrap and edit my photos using CS4 and PSE (although I don't use my PSE much really... ).

I'm a MAC lover :-) DH says I'm an APPLE lover period....actually he calls me an "apple junkie". LOL!

Agree with Scamp's post. I use CS4 only because I could get an academic discount at a great price. Unless someone is super knowledgeable I will absolutely always recommend PSE--without a doubt, the best bang for your buck!!

I use CS4 - but if they don't have the money PSE 8 would work fine..

It really depends on how much they want to spend on the software, and how much they want to do with it.

Obviously you can do much more with CS4 - but then there is a higher price tag and steeper leaner curve.

Some one above mentioned - if they are going to buy a wacom tablet - they will get a copy of PSE with it - that's also a good choice - they will also get a great discount on upgrading to CS4... so, another way to go.

My Guess is that as soon as CS5 hits the market - CS4 will be on sale dirt cheap.

Thank you for this post! We just recently got a Mac at home (hubby has been a MAC addict for several years now) and truthfully, I hate it. I just don't think I've really had a chance to sit down and get to know it, so-to-speak. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it soon so I can start scrapping again. I'm going through withdrawals...lol

I have used Paint Shop Pro exclusively for my layouts on the PC and am very comfortable with that program. It sounds like Photoshop is the prefered choice for the MAC. I'll start saving my money ;-)

And, CS5 just hit the market last week, so you should be able to pick up either
PSE 6 or CS4 pretty cheap real soon

if you want the older versions.
