yes, I took the plunge. My gigantic laptop (the big red one with the flames on it, some may remember from the 09 Adobe crop) has been giving me headaches left and right.
So, I finally bit the bullet and bought a new laptop. :yahoo: I got the MacBook Pro 15in i7 and I couldn't be happier.
I'm working on getting everything from my PC to my :love1:Mac:love1:, anyone know a faster way than transferring 4 to 8 gigs at a time via SD cards?
Also, anyone who has a Mac, there is this great little program I found called Fluid, and it will turn any website into a stand alone app. Now I have my very own DSP Forums app, and it sits in my dock next to my facebook app and my googledocs app. Very neat! Also, for heavy gmail users, Mailplane is marvelous.
I'm also open to hearing about any other must-have Mac apps!!
I'm working on getting photoshop for my Mac, and hopefully will have that up and running soon. How different is it from the windows version? Will I have a new learning curve?

You can get a USB to USB data transfer cable. I saw one at TigerDirect.com that went from pc to pc and pc to mac. Here's another example http://www.datavis.com/Tripplite-USB-20-File-Transfer-PC-Mac.html
I've just made the switch, too! I had PS CS4 for Windows and now have PS CS5 for Mac. It isn't all that different. I was a bit thrown by the transparent workspace but I found where I could change that (Windows->Application Frame) and now it feels quite familiar.

Congrats Fee! I just got a 15 " MacBook Pro as well. I love it! I had the same issue with the application frame when I started using CS5  I haven't added any app's yet, so I appreciate hearing about the ones you like.

That's great Jennilyn!!! My only issue (and it's slight, cause I can easily get around it) is that my Mac has only 2 USB ports and my PC giant laptop had 4. But, I just use a USB port hub and get extras. But so far, I am totally in love with my Mac!!!
I've found the following apps priceless so far:
xPad FREE (a great textpad with a drawer for easily accessing all notes. I use this for keeping a running tab on DSP LO credits for LOs I am working on, taking random notes, etc. It supports drag & drop info from the internet too.)
Fluid FREE (it turns any link into a stand alone application)
Canary FREE (I use this for twitter)
FontExplorer X $ or FREE (amazing tool for font management and installation)
Mailplane $ (lets me stay logged into and get mail from all my gmail accounts in a single app! It uses Gmail's own interface though, so it's as if you are in a web browser in your gmail account, and you just switch between accounts to view mail.)
AppCleaner FREE (so helpful in removing all parts of an app if you want to "uninstall" it, even those pesky hidden files)
Adium FREE (my almost all in one chat. I say almost because I still have to use Skype separately. Adium even allows you to connect to facebook chat though!)
Quicksilver FREE (lets you find anything in your Mac easily using quick keyboard shortcuts and search techniques. You can bring up documents, launch apps, etc. Brilliant!)
The Unarchiver FREE (the best unzip tool I've used on any platform mac/pc/linux! Not only does it unzip, it unarchives all sorts of file types, and allows you to set preferences that make it even more brilliant. I have mine to automatically delete the zip file after I unzip! I just double click a zip file, the program puts the contents into the folder I am in and then places the zip file in the trash. It has saved me oodles of time when sorting downloads!)
Hope those help!!!! I love researching useful apps, so I pretty much spent a whole day doing that after I bought this machine. teehee!!!

Ok I have had my Mac for a few months now, but haven't really done more than get on the net. What are these apps? And where and how do I use them?
I haven't had a lot of time to mess around with it, so any help would be great!!

Fluid http://fluidapp.com is a great program that lets you create stand-alone apps for websites using site-specific browsers.
Adium http://adium.im is a chat application that supports pretty much any IM provider; AIM, MSN, google talk, etc.
Tweetie for Mac is a twitter client http://www.atebits.com/tweetie-mac/
A totally essential one if you want to play other video formats than quicktime supported is Perian http://perian.org This application adds support for many other video formats to quicktime.
Also in the "play any video" category: VLC. This is a video player that will play any format. I use it on Windows too. http://www.videolan.org/
If you install Perian and VLC you'll never have trouble playing a video on your Mac.
If you want to customize your icons more, you might like Candybar http://www.panic.com/candybar/ which is a paid app but there is a free trial.
There are lots of other great Mac apps, try http://download.cnet.com/mac
