Or patterned papers...

There has to be some way of doing this! But it is not coming to me at all right now!

And would you do a tag with a custom shape the same way?

Anybody who can help?

TIA,

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly? do you want to make a slide mount out of patterned paper? If so, "cut" out your shape the use bevel & emboss, a small one & a tiny drop shadow. Hope this helps?

Kelly: lots of ways

First, create your shape using custom shape with the New Shape Layer icon chosen in the Options Bar (not the little Path icon or the Fill Pixels icon). Then go to Layer>Change Layer Contents>Pattern. Choose any pat file, or load one.

To use something thats not a pat file, create your shape (either Shape Layer or Fill Pixels on a new layer, doens't amtter). Then open your photo/pattern and put it on the layer above the shape. Ctrl-G or Layer>Clipping Mask or whatever they call it, LOL! Then your pattern will show only through your shape. You can rresize or move it as desired. For this method, use this tutorial:

just use a shape instead of text

hth! There are lots more ways to do this, like using a selection made from the shape and cutting the picture, or putting a Layer>Add Mask>Hide All mask on the picture and using the shape to draw on the mask to reveal it, or using a Quick Mask and drawing the shape, then using that selection to delete the excess pattern/picture, or load into a layer mask...you get it ;)
