I tried to download The Font Thing program and can't seem to get the intstallation to run for me.
I tried at download.com and it kept saying, "download in prgress"

I then tried by saving the zip file and then opening that up and trying to run the install.exe file. It would not open, either.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I have Windows XP and usually never have installation issues...

Thanks for any help.
Sarah

Have you tried downloading from another site?
I did a google and there are loads of sites offering it as a DL.

I tried to use Font thing, and it totally confused me, so I settled with AMP font viewer, its freeware, allows you to install a font temporally, it works for me.

The Font Thing, by Sue Fisher, can be downloaded from her site at http://members.ozemail.com.au/~scef/tft.html. I love the program -- it so helps me to keep from having too many fonts installed at once!

I've explained a bit of how I use the program here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=33300&postcount=74)

Yes, I have actually been able to download it fine, it just won't install. I have XP and install other programs fine so I am not sure what is up with this install...

I JUST downloaded it the other day from the main site, on XP, without trouble. Instead of saving the exe file, I chose Run and it just installed right there. I put it in my Program Files folder. Works like a charm!

Let us know the error or problem, we can be more helpful. Or try to Run instead of SAve the exe???
Hope you get it, awesome free software

Before I go and down load the "Font Thing".. I went to the site and read about it. Do I download both downloads ( one is the program and one is the installation, I think). Do have to to just run one or both of them or do I have to save one or both of them. Emma meantioned just running one.

I have XP and it works fine -- my next suggestion might be to contact the author and explain your problem. Anyone else with ideas?

This is the link I used to get the download.
Let me know what you think.

Download what she is calling the "zipped Instal Set." It has an installer and it will work automatically. I have a folder under My Documents I call Downloads and I save each Download into its own folder. That way you have a place for the zip file to unzip without affecting anything else. Just double click on the file you downloaded and it will unfold. I believe it made its own folder when it did that because what was unzipped is sitting in a folder by itself.

Double click on the Setup.exe file and it will take care of itself.

She has basically abandoned the program and hasn't done updates to it for 6 years. It works fine in XP although she doesn't say it will. She almost certainly will not answer questions so it is a good thing you asked here.

I agree: the first one is the one you want. If you get the second one, you have to install on your own by finding the exe where you saved on your hard drive and running it.

That's not where I got my copy, but if you already downloaded it, let's just help you install it. What have you tried already, where did you save the zip file?

No, haven't downloaded anything yet. Maybe this weekend.
Thanks for all the help.
