Keeping track of Fonts

I have a great way to spend my time while waiting for advice to finish a page I've been working on for two weeks. I go font shopping. I have always been in love with fonts. But once you get so many, how do you control them. Several people have mentioned programs that manage fonts. What are they, and where can I get them? I can see I'm going to need that soon. I would ideally like a program that views the fonts when you go searching for that right one. Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
