I was wondering if anyone can give me some quick and easy ways to be able
to organize the elements that come in zip files? When I download them they are in a folder but, to view and save them somewhere else I have to do each by themselves and it seems to be very time consuming? I didn't know if anyone out there had any good ideas? Thank you ahead of time... ;)

i'm not sure what you mean to view and save them somewhere else? are you extracting them to a folder? that's what i do, extract them to a folder with the name of the designer, site, kit name, something so i'll know what it is. i usually say kit-vb or plopper-mb or wordart-tc so i know what it is then who made it. but keep things together so you'll have the text file showing all the credits! if you haven't seen the unzipping tutorial, click on tutorials above. it tells how to extract your files. if i missed your question though, lmk and someone can try again! :)
oh, in explorer you can just view your folders by thumbnails so you can easily see what all is where too. :)

Since most of the elements within a single zipped file belong to a kit, they have been created to complement each other. I save kits in a directory that I name “Kit Name - Designer Name” -- and I haven’t changed on that. However I have begun creating folders that are named by theme (Christmas, Valentines, Mothers/Fathers Day, etc), then moving the kit folders into the area they fit. This is much easier if done when you begin digital scrapbooking and not a year later like I did!

Then, there are programs that search your drive for graphics (Google's Picasa was free, is it still?), so you can put key words into the program about each graphic if you choose -- that way you know where all of your paper clips and tags are, but you’re keeping them with the folder that has the designer information in it (important if you plan to submit a layout to a magazine or publication).

I do burn a CD every so often with the zips I’ve purchased from the store, but I unzip all of them to my hard drive first. With Windows XP I can browse what is in a zipped file, but I don't see a thumbnail -- so I don't keep them in the zip file (except for the CD storage in case of a hard drive problem).

It's fun to mix and match sometimes - but I still like keeping the kits together. When I get elements that don't belong to a kit, I save them to folders also, but I name the element (Lacy frame - Designer Name), then keep them in folders for easy finding (frames, buttons, bows, etc.). A bit of work - but worth it to me as I do find that I use the same kits several times (and no two of the layouts come out the same). Hope this makes sense.

Any others with ideas and help?

I just received my new camera the Olympus 8080 which is a 8 MP camera. I do allot of action shots, and sequential shooting.

I am not a pro that is for sure, but have been able to achieve the shots I want on my old camera is basic Auto mode, to motion and then I go into sequential shooting. What I have found with this camera is the shots are not as sharp and clear as with the 750. Is there any one out there that might be able to help me out on this subject.
Thanks Nora

What a great idea! I just started and only have two downloads from zipped files. So I guess I need to know this, and I need to know it now. Good question. I just got my second download and there was a lot of stuff in there. I had to go shopping through the files to find the right element. And I forgot to label it with the designer's name, or the CD name. Big mistake. I guess now is the time to go back and do that.

Thanks, Kathy
