I had a little birdie (won't say whom but sounded something like ummmmm Tara) wanting another go around and finally had a chance to do something. So hit me with your best inspiration! I will do one random draw for the finished page kit for every 10 people who contribute so get your friends to come play too!

My oldest stepson's daughter. I would love a kit made for these set of pictures I have in my stock that I haven't scrapped yet.

My best inspiration I can't yet post a pic (but will SOON) because of my account being so new. But it is of my late son Trevor. He was with me for one week before he was called back to Heaven. He is my inspiration in EVERYTHING! I am currently fishing through all of the kits trying to find something that I can scrap his very own little book from but I haven't quite yet found anything Heavenly yet happy, brilliant yet calming... Does that make any sense? I have found some kits that seem to extreme in one way or another like too dark and spark sadness, or too bright/rainbow-ish to memorialize a deceased loved one. I hope that can spark some ideas... It is just really hard to explain what goes on in my newbie head LOLOLOL!!! I will post a picture of my sweet baby soon! Thanks for letting me rattle on!!!

oh Mindy, it sounds like you are in such a good place, sad but hopeful and grateful for the time you had, I am so sorry for your loss. I seem to recall someone did a kit specifically for babies that die young a year ago or so. I will ask the other designers and see if anyone has suggestions, plus feel free to post your pic when you can.
It is my anniversary today, so I am popping in and out and probably won't make a decision until tomorrowish. oooooh you should all see the new series I am working on currently. It is kinda funky and art journal-y. yeah it is a word, just look it up in the Gundi dictionary.

alright these colors are just SPEAKING to me! Let's do this. I don't want a strictly "beach" kit, though, so try to make it more generic, okey dokey? :)
So what kind of backgrounds do you want? and while you are thinking did you see the kits I just put in the store? I told you are finishing a couple of them up, well they are done!

How about a paper in one of the colors with a smudged and grunged up grip made with one of the other colors. or...
How about a paper in one of the colors with grungy and gradiated (is that a word? :yikes:) with one or two of the other colors. or...
How about a paper in one of the colors with another color over the top, getting lighter and lighter as you eye tracks toward the middle. or...

that paper totally makes me think of bubble wrap that's been popped completely :D
I'd like to see a yellow paper that has no more than about a quarter of it gradienting in from one corner in the darker green - dark in the corner, invisible (ie yellow) by the time it reaches the middle of the paper.
And all of it in just one corner
(I know, that sounds really complicated, but I don't think it will be cos Christine is Clever)

-the yellow, with slightly darker yellow soft wavy stripes, thin or thick, few or many

Okay, as for suggestions...I don't have many 'cuz I need a direction for the kit before I get ideas! But for backgrounds:
- something white - could be crumpled or have slightly darker white dots or ???
- the darkest color in a velvety texture
- a silver sparkle paper - like a whole sheet of fine glitter or just a matte silver (I've seen the matte in paper scrapping stores...hopefully I described it okay) or both!!!
- the darkest color with wavy white lines in it
- this doesn't go with anything but what if you made a background that looked like you sponge painted a bunch of squares/rectangles on it? In yellow and all the blues...overlapping...could look messy, but could look cool under Gundi's talented watch
That's all for now. Can I skip work tomorrow so I can be around to make more suggestions? Pretty please?!

Well, I'm super excited to meet my students on Wednesday and to start teaching again, but I hate having to get up early...and I hate that I have a never ending to do list...and I hate feeling like a 1st year teacher again (since I'm at a new school where they do everything SOOOOO differently than at my last one). Wow - that was a lot of hate! Besides missing my leisurely retired days, I am truly happy and excited. The school is great - the campus is beautiful, the people are friendly, and I love the weather up here! I love my new apartment...love being close to my family...so all is GREAT...except when that alarm clock goes off!!!!

Perhaps I've suggested this before, but I think Gundi needs to make an "organization" kit...with a spreadsheet and everything else Rene loves! :)
My new school starts an hour later than my former school and that thrills me to no end!!!! But I'm definitely with the kids when they complain about the early mornings. I'm still like a teenager - - I need my sleep in the morning hours...not at 9pm at night!!!!

It's a way to separate the parts of a sentence into nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, etc. We had to do it a lot in elementary school in order to learn what each word in a sentence was. Maybe it was mostly an American thing? Here's a pic of what it looks like:

oh kay - never seen that before - must be an american thing unless its something thats more the last 10-15 years and is also being done here and I'm just not aware of it yet
does that sentence say -
I finished the dishes after tim ate his doughnut and we cleaned the kitchen ??
because that's the only thing that makes sense.
mind you, I'm not sure why it's all angled and split up like that.

Oooh I love the contrast of the dark paper. The swatch is actually a dark purple, but for the paper I added a gradient so the teal color flows into the purple. Also I sorta used Tara's suggestion of some overlapping random squares, although it is subtle. I "squished" the other papers over just a bit so you could see it better. :)

Ooo I love the contrast with the darker paper too. Okay...elements...gotta get my brain in gear...it is a bit fried after the first day of school! Good thing I love my new home and find it relaxing to be in NorCal again!!!! YAY!
Okay...tangent...sorry! Back to elements...ummmm...
Since it is a BAG, can we have a bag? A nice paper sack? Not sure if that is a serious suggestion or not! HA HA HA!
White buttons - well, flat like brads - in an interesting grouping.
A striped ribbon - - maybe with all four colors from the original backgrounds in it.
If we are "going epoxy" then how about little buttons (like the flair in our signatures). Or an epoxy swirl?! I like the epoxy swirl idea. Could even have a silver border.
A square tag with tiny punched out holes around the border
Some paper stars - maybe a vertical grouping of them...connected by some sloppy stitching
Some sort of white gradient overlay made of stamped squares (something that could easily go in the corner of a layout)
Number/letter stickers - in the different colors with a white border OR epoxy ones with a silver border
A wave...not a literal ocean wave - maybe a paper shape or a stamp that contains some random white waves
That's all for now...
minnmom79
08-24-2011, 10:46 PM
ribbon with circles punched out
grouping of square paper mats- with grungy edging
staples with little plastic looking charms- circles, squares, maybe a sun shape
Paper doll cutouts? Or something more generic like hearts or stars in a paper chain (like when they are all cut from one piece of paper and thus connected).
A hanging velvet ribbon with a triangle cut out of the end...like one of those bookmarks that is attached to a book...but thicker
Word art in boxes...not sure what the words would be, but have a thin white box and the word a bit bigger than the box so parts of it stick out
Some brad music notes (so tiny...made to look like they are constructed out of something thick...plastic or something)
a notepad with spiral binding
some new tape for my label maker...oh wait...that's just my "to buy list" not my BAG suggestion list! HA HA HA

Just got back on the site after being forbidden from posting a thread?!! Guess I was fired, but I snuck back in the back door, so hopefully I can see these suggestions in the morning. Going to bed now cuz I broke my toe tonight at Young Women's and it really hurts!

I can't think of anything. I have busted my brains all evening to get on the site. Thanks to the *powers that be*, here I am. Thoughtless, but present.
LOL yeah the site didn't like me much either

Translucent epoxy 4-photo frame in one of the colors? Epoxy flowers?
That's all for now...

ok we have an epoxy frame, some flowers and little WA as was suggested by Tara. Hope I picked a good word, lmk if you want something else, just seemed perfect for this kit

I love the new papers! How about a brushed or painted element in the style of the border on the blue striped paper, in the yellow and lime perhaps.Or a frame in the dark blue with little circles or flower cut out so the background paper can peek through, some yellow paper flowers and curled paper leaves, or paper strips for layering or journaling.

a string of gems, a stamp frame made of dots - like a bunch of unconnected stamped dots in the shape of a rectangular or round frame

love giggle for the wordart!
-maybe a small round sticker (like the "good job" type stickers teachers sometimes put on elementary school papers)...maybe a heart in one of the colors, a flower, a "made of awesome", etc...
-some ribbon pieces, folded over
-a little inch worm, maybe an epoxy one

Once again, DSP needs a "like" button! Great word choice too!
Like the idea of a painted element of some sort

ribbon with circles punched out
grouping of square paper mats- with grungy edging
staples with little plastic looking charms- circles, squares, maybe a sun shape
I am intrigued by the staples w/ charms idea, so are you thinking of a staple holding a charm? or something else.
minnmom79

Yeah- the charm hanging from the staple-holding it in place.
So happy we are building a goodie! :)

Love the word art!!!!! I think I already know what I'm going to scrap with these kits!
I love it! You ARE making great progress! I especially love the folded hearts and the word art. Plus the colors are just fantastic!
Another yellow element. Maybe some painted/stamped lines - vertical - and not meant for journaling - just for interest. Or a yellow heart-shaped journaling mat (maybe with a thin navy line as a border).
And Rene knows what she is going to scrap with the kits 'cuz she looked on her spreadsheet! If only I were so organized! For now, I just look and think "pretty!"

No, I keep a spreadsheet of photos to scrap with the main colors in the photos so that when I see a kit or challenge, I can see what might work with it. :D I also have one of just ideas for layouts, but no photos to go with them yet. Don't judge. :p It's not easy being me, and I'm guessing it's not easy living with me either.:rofl::rofl:

All these accents....... LOL!
I was at the grocery store in the next town over last night... and met a couple from Oregon. They proceeded to ask me "where are you from, you have an accent but I can't place where it's from".... Ummmmmmm CALIFORNIA!? ahahahahah.... Nah, Im originally from Chicago and almost always people immediately say "are you from Chicago, you talk like them... " ... but I haven't lived in Chicago since I was a toddler! Hmmmmmmm....... WEIRD!

ummmm, I hate to say anything, but as I have actually met you.......yeah you do.
I don't have an accent (well...unless there is a California one) but I can't tell you how many times people asked me where I'm from because I have an accent!!! It happened when I came back from a summer in Hawaii. But I did have a different inflection because I picked up on the way they talk and end sentences. That I understood. But it continues! I think I must pick up bits and pieces from my travels and friends and it comes out sometimes???? But multiple people have asked me!!! And no one can ever place it. Once, my dad and I were swimming and talking to this lady. She was confused because if we were father and daughter, why did one of us have an accent and not the other?! HA HA HA!
