Just wanted to pass on there is new digital scrapbooking book out. It is called "Scrapbooking The Digital Way" by Michelle Shefveland and Jasc Paint Shop Creations. I just received it yesterday. I was impressed how well it was done. It walks you through how to create a digital layout including chapters on creating torn edges, creating backgrounds with picture tubes, creating embellishments, creating fibers and more. If you use PSP, this would be a great resource - it gives you the print screens and steps on how to do create all of the above. If you use other softwares and are good at converting the tools between the two, would be helpful too.

Would you say it was aimed at the beginner or okay for advanced PSP users? I looked into getting it but after discovering the postage was going to cost nearly double the price to get it to Aust  (I hesitated, to say the least)
I was thinking of getting as a gift for a friend

Here's another book on the way... it's posted at Amazon.com! http://tinyurl.com/yvldy This one doesn't look like it's only for Paint Shop Pro either. You might even recognize the authors (Lori Davis and Sally Beacham)! Get your add to favorites button ready! :)

I have "Scrapbooking The Digital Way" by Michelle Shefveland. It's awesome. I just started doing digital LOs and I have to say it was very easy to follow; I couldn't believe how easy it was to do the examples in the book. I'm definitely hooked now....

I also have the JASC book and I love it! It is very easy to follow and she gives you step by step examples along with screen shots to tell you what you should be doing.
I'm an absolute beginner and I created my own torn paper very easily and after doing just that tutorial, I made my own by myself without the steps! :) I was pretty proud! LOL
I also have the DVD from scrappersguide.com. It's for PhotoShop elements, but still, is a good beginner tutorial if that's your program of choice. So far, I have found the 2 to be quite similar and what the DVD shows you step by step in real time can almost always be converted to PSP.

Just got my copy of this book today. I haven't got to "use" it, but I think it would be great for a beginner, but still has plenty of tips and tricks that are great for those of us who aren't exactly beginners, but not advanced either.
Can't wait to get home and PLAY!

For those who have purchased the book, does it show you have to make realistic embellishments like ribbon and things like this, and is the description they gave accurate that it's very "realistsic-looking"?

Your better bet is to take the Creating Elements class right here at DSP with Lori Davis. Her class is excellent.
