View Full Version : CONFIRMED- Photowalk and Crop/Photoshop Classes - March 3/4 2012 - Auckland NZ
Lauren

weve booked for the crop in Auckland in March -
We are doing a more budget approach than we were discussing but hopefully this will suit more people while money is tight..
It will be the weekend of March 3/4 - we will photowalk on the saturday - hopefully we will have a chauffeur driven van for the purpose - and we will do the gannet colony and wineries along with some other photographic sights .
Then the crop will be more in the line of structured photoshop classes and will be 9 -5 on Sunday at the geneaology society rooms in panmure.
Accommodation for those out of Auckland we can discuss - but the Ellerslie motor inn has been recommended as reasonable and does a nice breakfast ( which is the only issue that we have with fernz.
Alternatively you all coudl stay at fernz and we could go out for breakfast before the crop.
I will organise transport from either place to the Crop venue on Sunday.
The crop price ( which I will work out shortly - will include the photowalk and lunch on the class day which i will get brought in - I will work out a cost over the next day or so and let you know but I would like a show of hands as to who is interested so I can get a ballpark idea of cost per person

Why do I get the impression that the 2012 Crop has fallen through the cracks?
May be I am just too impatient...
:drumroll: Happy Christmas to one and ALL

I was not thinking that you had dropped it Lauren :) I was referring to the apparent lack of interest in what sounds like a really good weekend - especially with You [Lauren] offering to TEACH us things. :yahoo:
Took my grandson to see and photograph the Gannets last Tuesday.
Some of the youngsters look almost ready to fly but there are also "replacement" chicks; little fluffy balls about the size of a goose egg.
Lots of flying around below the platform - even his iPod was capable of grabbing some decent shots.
Looking forward to seeing them again later.

I won't be able to make it. We're moving back to Wellington at the beginning of Feb so money will be super tight and I'm going to be soooo busy finding somewhere to live.

I would love to come again, but considering this is the 1st party was have had since hubby turned 21 (19 years ago!) I had better be here

I'll be working out a cost for this event next week when Fiona visits.
Cost will cover the photo walk and the crop including lunch ( unless the numbers are so small that we go with a shared lunch type deal) .
We may be including a class on geneaology too which might interest more people both at DSP and offsite

A genealogy lesson would be fun.

If the genealogy proves to be popular then you will not need me for 'numbers'.
I'm easy either way - it is my birthday that weekend so I get to choose :D and, yes, I still celebrate...

I will hopefully have a price on this event today (after Fiona finds out the price for renting the room and projector) but it will be in the vicinity of $60 including lunch on the sunday and that will also include the photowalk on the Saturday.
The cost for just the sunday will be approximately $10-15 less .
We have developed a series of classes that will suit everyone - both the scrappers and the geneaologists should we get any interested. -
There will be free product included in the price on the Sunday that can be used on the day .
Weve worked it out carefully to make sure everyone can be involved whether they are interested in family history or scrapping in general.
The photo walk will focus on photography ( obviously) - Lunch will be at your own cost on that day - we will probably stop at a local cafe ( reasonably priced) .

Sorry, won't make it this time due to other commitments.
Pity, because with all the genealogy as well it should be really great. I've finished writing up my family story and am now working on a photobook to go with it.

I know you are waiting on payment details for this.. I'm waiting just to see if we get any genealogists sign up.. If we don't and it's just us .I may reduce the cost and we can do a shared lunch instead of me supplying it.. I'll let you know by Friday.

How does a shared lunch work?
I famously took an empty plate to a 'Ladies a plate' invitation...
still not sure of how one would avoid getting only [e.g.] cupcakes to eat.
Ooooh but we CAN bring Chocolate I presume - without sugar? ;)

shared lunch would be each bringing something to share but Im thinking I might just go with the current plan - it seems easier and allows me to set the price right now and give you all details - which I will send out by pm

Oh and another big thank you to Lauren for the cool mini album. I have finished one of my father's pics from their holidays in Waiheke in the 1940s. The pics are poor quality but are still very cool. It is being printed at the moment - those 6x4 prints make it so cheap!
