I see I should have posted this somewhere else!

I am VERY new to this so bear with me!

I recently bought Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 2.0 from Costco. I feel it was a waste of $$ as I am quite experienced in Corel Draw. I didn't really realize that I could be doing Scrapbooking in Corel, never thought of it to be honest.

I only have Corel version 8, an older one. It's not that great and I am considering upgrading to Corel 12.

My plan is to create the pages and have them printed at a photo place (like Walmart) and put them in a book.

Anyhow, just looking for suggestions.

Thanks !
Holly

The reason you haven't gotten responses is that very few of us use Corel, so everyone is hoping some Corel guru will come along and help you.

I used Scrapbook Factory when I started digital scrapbooking, way back when no one else seemed to be doing it. It is limiting and it can be very frustrating. You can't use anyone's elements but theirs in the program.

Most beginners here start with either Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro. They each cost about US$100, but you can find deals and get them cheaper. There are people here who can help with those two programs. There are tutorials. And there are classes.

It is probably possible to scrapbook with Corel, but ...

Holly,

I did a search in the gallery and came up with the following members who use some form of Corel - either Corel Photo Paint, Corel Knockout, Corel Draw - are any of these similar to your program?

There may also be more members - I just quickly jotted down only a few names so that you can get an idea of what they are doing with this program.

You know I think Corel owns Paint Shop Pro now too. If you are gonna upgrade you might want to think about going to PSP or Paint Shop. You will be challenged by the tools and possibilites of either program.

I use Corel Draw 12, sometimes for scrapbooking. Actually I don't know CDraw very well but I think if you are familiar with it and Photo Paint you could use without any trouble at all. Here at DSP Kim Liddiard uses CD and she is a designer. On another site I found someone that uses CD for all her scrapbooking and she is very good. I think if you know CD use it.

kim rocks with corel draw!!! and she's posted some tutorials (up in the top menu) too. our advice is usually go with what you know. then if you want more, branch out later! and scrapbook factory version 3 is out now with some major improvements, including DSP graphics inside!!! :) and it supports png files also, so it's a better scrapping program. :)
