View Full Version : Background color tinting photos
I'm having trouble with my photos being tinted with the background color. It seems to happen on photos with regular and decreased opacity. This is especially a problem with my black & white photos. I've also wondered if it is a problem with the color-communication between the computer and the printer because on the screen everything looks perfect, but when I print it out, the background color has infiltrated into the photos.
I'm using PhotoShop Elements 3 (mac) and an Epson Photo R800 printer.

I use Photoshop CS and the Epson R800 photo printer too. I am not having any problems with this combination that sound anything like yours. I would guess that your problems are software based, and not hardware based.
By the way, I would expect background bleed through a photo where the opacity is not at 100%.

Yes, if you have a layer that is set below full opacity, you will naturally see whatever bg color is behind it. Could possibly be you are out of some ink in your printer too :)

It is unlikely that the R800 is out of ink. It is one of the printers that has 8 ink cartridges. Epson printers simply won't print if one of the cartridges doesn't have enough ink to print the page that was ordered.

what color are you printing onto? what color is bleeding through?
Whatever color I've chosen for my background is the color that bleeds through the photos (which I expect on the decreased opacity ones, but not the regular opacity ones).
Since the colors and photos look perfect on the screen, I'm starting to suspect it might be a color management problem between the computer and the printer. The ink levels in the printer are fine and I've run cleaning and test runs on the printer. I might try hunting down color management/ColorSync adjustment info on the Apple, Adobe, and Epson sites.
Thanks for the suggestions.
