i am usinf ms digital image pro 10 wit winXP pro. i am attempting ot import my photos from either the media card or directly form the camera. the import wizard starts up, identifies the devices and then proceeds to "prepare to catalog" to the application. at that point nothing else happens. the program just hands. ichecked the device manager and it says the prgram is still running. this is very frustrating since i dont want to import hundreds of images one by one to the library.
does ne1 have any suggestions? thanks sara

Not many here use DIP. Have you tried just moving all the images onto your hard drive through Windows Explorer and then adding them to the library from there?

Hi, have you checked whether you have enough RAM to perform the operation? Shut down other applications?
I have used DIP10 import wizard to import about 40 photos at a time, and find it handy as I can add descriptions to the photos and put them into categories at the same time.
Does it work for you if you just import one at a time?

I agree with melodiustenor - Do you have enough RAM? Shut down other applications running? Can you import just one photo? If you can - import one photo its a memory problem if you cant.......
If your camera is not compatible with the Import Pictures Wizard, you can use your camera's software to copy the pictures to your computer, and then open the pictures from your computer's hard disk.
Some digital cameras allow you to use a file format called RAW. RAW is a special format that bypasses much of the in-camera image processing and is preferred by many professional photographers. Digital Image cannot open RAW images. Before you can open a RAW image in Digital Image, you need to convert it to a standard format (such as JPEG or TIFF) by using the image capture software that came with your digital camera. Pictures copied from a digital camera using TWAIN are not automatically saved onto your hard disk. You need to save each picture you want to keep.
Something to be aware of if they are RAW file format is while you cannot open them in DIP10 you can open them in DIP2006......
