well as long as you sent it in, that's their copyright violation, not yours! (please let us know which layout and what page!) and yes it counts! :)

I have a layout I would love to submit for publication. I have used some embellishments from the Freebies section...first question is am I allowed to submit it as long as I give credit with the designer's name and kit name?
Thank you!

uhm... I know I sound like such a newbie... but how do you get published?
Rosemary
07-05-2005, 04:11 AM
Starla, you submit to magazines. Most scrapping mags have a section in them stating which types of LOs they are looking for for upcoming publications. You then send them a jpg of your LO by email. You can also use Scrapsubmit (http://www.scrapsubmit.com/), which makes the process really easy!
From time to time DSP people may link to a submission call - the last one was for SS digital Issue 4, so you can also just keep an eye on the boards.

I got published, with credits but not the sitename. I'll send it in though.
It's in the dec/jan. issue of Ready, Set, Create. Used the grungy edges by Lauren Bavin, wordart by Tina and a stamp by Suzanne.
Awesome! I'd love to see! What magazine is it in? WTG :)
Whew! Nevermind me... I'm a little slow. I didn't see the magazine name there. lol. Any chance you can send me a scan? Tina@dsplace.com :)

This is really cool. How do you go about getting published??
You have to submit to the magazines. They each have their own guidelines as to how they want them submitted, but just go to their websites. :)

if I was accpeted by this magazine (Ready, Set Create (http://readysetcreate.com/rsc/)) for publishing, does it count or no? does it have to be published in an actual printed hardcopy magazine?

I don't know if this is the right place ... but here goes. I just bought a copy of Digital Scrapbook 5 at the local Borders store and in it is several examples using designs from several artists here at DSP. They were given credit and so was the site!!! If it were me, I'd want to know. If there is another way to let a person know, let me know and I'll go there and give this info.
*bump*
Dont forget if you get published using DSP products you get a free month of club digital!

Ok...my quesion is about that scrapsubmit place....I signed up...but it looks like to me all they want are paper scrapbook pages :( Am I wrong??? Just wondered?
They take digital submissions too, but you would probably have better luck submitting directly to the magazines/ezines.

I just found out last night that I am going to be published too! I am so excited, this is the first time for me. My 'Waterbug Baby' will be seen in the 'Ready, Set, Create Magazine,' .....the Oct/Nov. Issue, I believe. I am not certain of all of the details yet but the layout was created using Lauren's Bright Summer Days kit and her Tiddlywinks Alpha.

I wrote an article about digital scrapbooking that was recently accepted for publication by Escapees Magazine - a magazine for RVers. To be fair, I listed places on the web that listed other digital scrapbook sites, but by the end of the article there was no doubt at all where my loyalties are. :-) I don't know yet if they will include any of my layouts or not. Will let you know.

Ready, Set, Create is an e-zine available at several sites (3Scrapateers, Divine Digital are the ones I know) and at RSC itself: http://readysetcreate.com
It's a great magazine with lots of inspiration.

I never got my coupon for being published, either. I didn't think about it since I won a spot on the det and it came with a club digital perk. :) But, I just recently got published again. Should I send in a prize request for both, or just the older one? My new one will be in the Feb Issue of Ready, Set, Create.

Okay, I am a newbie, I admit it, I confess. I'm still trying to figure my way around this website as there is just SO MUCH you offer [it's amazing really!]. I have had several compliments on my work [and most using Lauren Bavin's designs - which I LOVE!] and have been told I should publish, but as I said, I am a newbie and don't know anything about any magazines that take this kind of work. Any titles someone can give me? Any help is appreciated.

Congrats Cathie! Don't take your LOs out of your gallery completely, but edit them by uploading a generic "Out for Publication" JPEG to replace the LO pic.
If you have any questions about the contract or other details, feel free to PM me! Super exciting!

Three of my travel pages were published in the premiere edition of Somerset Digital Magazine, which came out March 1. I used Marcee Dugger's Traveler's Suitcase Pack and Add-On kit. The cover of my 60 page book was printed, and you can see it here in the DSP gallery at:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=111348&ppuser=494
They also used two other pages from my book. In 2001, an artist friend traveled with us Around the World and she kept a daily journal. I always wanted a copy of it, but the only was I could do that then was to Xerox the pages. Hmmmm.....not very exciting. Along came digital scrapbooking several years later, and I could do the journal justice. I scanned the original pages, added backgrounds and pictures, and published the book as my first major digital project. Now that the original journal has been lost, the hardbound digital book is a special treasure for both Sharon Rouse, the original artist, and me. Michele Rice
