I just realized how long it has been since we have done one of these. Is anybody ready to play? :D If so, let's see some color inspiration. It can be a photo, color scheme, ad, whatever inspires you! Make sure to come in and give some suggestions plus bring your friends because for every 10 participants, I will give away 1 of the finished kit(s) in a random draw at the end. :yahoo: Have fun and let's hear what you want.

Hey, that's awesome! I think it's a great idea to suggest kits that are already made if they're close to the inspiration suggestions, especially for us newbies who haven't been around to peruse all the stuff that's in the store! Thanks, I love the colors so that's going in the cart!

I am actually working on some kits right now that have yellow, green blue, with some neutrals. You will have to watch for them!
Well, obvious as it is: white, black, pink, turquoise, and yellow backgrounds please!
Maybe with a woven cardstock texture (does that make sense - not the smooth cardstock). Maybe the pinky one could have faint thin white swirls in it.
Yellow, black, and white flowered background
An ombre in the turquoise
Black with teeny tiny white or pink dots

a corrugated cardboard background in either the coral or white
a black paper with aqua doodley border, or vice versa on the colors

sooo....
white with random colored dots
stripe with all the colors
pink with the flower pattern on the top dish- with varying sizes of the flower
gradient with blue/white or pink/white

love the mix of soft color in this one!
-A tone on tone background with swirlies
-I like the outline flowers in the top dish, maybe a background with some of those scattered about
-I'll second Stitch's stripes (oh how we know you lurve making stripes :D ) and her random dots suggestions.
SilverHealer

- Stripes! :D
- I really like the swirls in the fifth dish down. Maybe a paper with this swirl around the whole border
- I second Paula's idea for a paper with the outline flowers!
Fade2Pink

I agree with Mary about the swirls on the 5th dish. Almost Celtic? Anywhoo my suggestion is to have a bg with those type of swirls just down one side (left probably).

I like Tara's cardstock idea... I especially want a white one
Here is a thought how about a peachy/pink cardstock textured or embossed maybe with those flowers and then "chalked" or maybe roughed up and sanded...
this card:
http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt330/CoredinationsDT/Core%20Teachers/core-giftcardholder1-kimber.jpg by Kimber McGray
I would rather not link scrapbooking stuff but I like this embossed scratch look and can't figure out how to explain it...
are these teeny and pink enough for you? :)
I actually envisioned them even smaller - just a bit over pinprick size - but I like this paper all the same.

The Station Cat

Spots and stripes yummy
I also notice that the white outline flowers are smaller on the second dish down so how about a graduated backgroung with the flowers getting smaler as they go down the page.
Or an overlay with the flowers, or celtic swirls in white with lots of plain backgrounds then we can place them where we want and adjust size to suit!
The Station Cat
04-18-2012, 05:15 AM
Those outline flowers would make great elements with each petal a different spot or stripe so maybe we need the planer backgrounds to show off the elements.
I love the turqouise blue shade.

How about some sort of solid with a gradient between the blue-green and the pink?
Ombre, English corruption of the Spanish word Hombre, arising from the muting of the H in Spanish. (Wikipedia)
SILLIES!!! Yes, I want you to put a spanish man on a background please!
The ombre about which I am speaking actually needs an accent over the e and is not Spanish but French (if my memory serves me, ombre means shadow in French, but it has been many years so don't quote me on that). Anyway, "ombre with an accent over the e" is used a lot in fabric (don't you people watch Project Runway?!). It is like a gradient - it goes from light to dark.
Like this:

Or this:

When I made my suggestion, I was thinking of something like the green maternity dress, but in one of the colors of the kit.

We need some flowers for both kits but very simple ones like kids draw with a big circle middle and 4 or 5 rounded petals. These could be just outline for one kit and filled with spots/ stripes etc for the second.

Here's a couple more additions:
a scrap flower, a dotted frame on top of some shabby paper, 2 rows of lace overlapped, and some polaroid-type frames.

now the question, do you guys want the dotted frame WITH the shabby paper? or should I separate them out into 2 separate elements, so you can use them individually. either way is fine by me :)

I would like to see the frame separated two separate elements how about a round picture frame or oval in gold or silver
Thank you for my message will give it a try :)
I'd like the paper separate from the frame.
And I LOVE those flowers in the first kit. SO AWESOME!

k we need 3 more elements for kit a and 4 more for kit b :)
hlmbugle
04-21-2012, 10:24 AM
Can we get some kind of clip or fastener in kit B to go along with the twine? I'm not exactly sure what kind, I just like to fasten my twine with something. :) A sprinkle of something in darker/brighter shades of these colors would be cool in that kit too, like seed beads or glitter or tiny flowers-- something to add a little pop of bright.

I'm lovin both kits.
Kit a needs something swirly or dangelly, maybe a ribbon.
Or a curled metal spring, you know the sort that kids play with. They come in an assortment of colours and travel down the stairs. I will get some photos to show you what I mean.
The Station Cat

Kit B needs more in the aqua blue colour.
A pair of kids flowered wellies
Watering can
Cute gardening kit, trowel, etc you can get them in all colours with dot, flowers etc.

I love what you've added, this is awesome! How about a couple of journaling strips for the 2nd kit? Maybe with some of the blue on them, and I like Station Cat's idea of a nice blue watering can! And I'm still thinking clips, maybe deco paper clips of some sort. Something to give it a little pizzazz. Is that how you spell pizzazz? Looks funny.

First thing I saw looks funny. I thought well alrighty then. Glad to see u were talking about pizzazz. :) so I am not sure what u mean on the clips. Like a paper clip with something on the top or something else

04-21-2012, 03:23 PM
Haha! My spelling looks funny. Sorry, I can see how that would make you go hmm...
But yes, that's the idea I had, paper clips with a little decorative something on one end. I'm thinking the blue color for some contrast with the papers. I love the coppery color of metal accents so maybe actual paperclips in that color and then still something blue-green on the tops of them. What about small versions of the doodled flowers with one of your pretty sequins in the center?

Think we need another frame for the second kit. You did pink and black spots for kit a how about a stripy frame for kit b? or a gradient blue and yellow maybe.
The Station Cat

If you add some of the rainy elements that have been suggested to kit b and another flower to kit a you could go with
April showers and May flowers as the kit names.
