I made my first slideshow last night, burned it to a CD (which took FOREVER), and planned to take it to my grandparents this weekend to play on their DVD player.

It looks like it made it onto the CD okay, but when I put it in my DVD player at home, it said "NO DISK" on the display. I tried putting it in my PC to play it ('cause I could take the laptop to my grandparents), and I can't figure out how to "launch" it.

Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me? I'm leaving in two hours and need to get this fixed!!!

TIA,
Jacee

tell us about the slideshow. what did you use to make it? many but not all dvd players will recognize a cd full of images and play a slideshow of them, but it won't play it as an actual dvd unless you have special software to do that...

I used photoshop elements to create the slideshow. I then burned the slideshow to a CD. I've just started using PSE, so I'm likely doing something wrong! The learning curve on this is too steep for me! LOL

Anyway -- perhaps the slideshow isn't the way to share my photos. I want to be able to show my grandparents my digital photos . . . the DVD player is the only way to do that for them, as they have no PC.

*sigh* I don't want to have to print all these photos! That was the whole point of going digital!

Any help would be appreciated . . .

What is the extension on your slide show? (*.exe, *.mpg, etc.) Many slide shows are made for the computer only. If I place JPG photos on a CD, my DVD player will show them as a slide show, but not all DVD players do that. My DVD player will also play *.mp3 music files and *.mpg movie files - so I've also made a MPG file with music in the background using Photo Suite Video Wave that came with a video transfer device by Belkin.

There is a program called "OnDVD" that creates slide shows that play in a DVD player, I used to have a link to a free trial, but can no longer find it. It came with Dazzle. But there are programs that create slideshows in the format of a movie that will play on your DVD (any DVD) player. Be sure to read to see if software is creating a slideshow to view on your computer or if it is making a slideshow that will play in a DVD player.

Two things for sure -- First, read the manuals or experiment with your DVD player and with your grandparent's DVD player to see which formats they accept. Second, read the software claims to see if slideshows are meant to be played on a PC or on a DVD player.

Thanks all. I'll keep working on it and see if I can use your tips to figure it out. I'll report back in when I get it to work!
