I'm so sick of this Organizer. Anyone know a step-by-step tutorial for using it? I need to know what all these options are for, how to find my images, import, view, and sort them. I don't have time for all this trial-and-error, and the help file on this isn't ringing my bell.

thanks!

I am ssssooo glad to hear you ask a question. I just thought you knew everything. LOL I looked at it too and just thought to put that off for another time when I could just come here and get the answers. Now I'm waiting for someone to answer you.
:D

Emma,
Scott Kelby's book walks you right through it. I spent one morning and had all my photos organized, tagged, etc. I loved it.

But, then I started on your class and haven't gone any further. If you have
Scott's book, you might take a look at it.

Yes, it is nice to see you ask questions. ha

Emma, I presume thats the one which comes with version 3 and is the same as the Album software.

I use the Album, I think the key is to decide how you want to orgainse your photos, set up the catagories you want. I have a People section with a tag for each member of the family, a places section with a sub catagory and tag for each place I visit.

I set up the camera options to load the photos off the card into a folder which is named using the date and time and just hit the get photos button when I have a full card, then just drop the photos into the catagories.

Each photo can be in lots of places while existing on the disk just once.

So, click on Stephens tag and all photos of him pop up, click on morroco as well and you only see photos of him in Morocco like this

I have been using the Album version for a year or so, so I will glad to help if I can.

Just to add I set up a separate catalogue for all my new elements and backgrounds and kits so I could group them by type and colour and themes.

I dropped in on this thread earlier with my smart remark. I watched it as the day went by and decided the tutorial video was the best for me. It did help a lot, but he talks a little fast so I had to go back over it a couple of times to really understand it thoroughly. I then went back and tried to tag everything I had put into my pictures folder lately. I think the best method is to think this through before you do the tagging. Look to see how you take pictures and what you save. I take a lot of pictures of my dogs, as they are always with me. But I seldom get to Morroco.

I'm curious to hear if anyone has compared the PSE3 Organizer with PSP Photo Album. I bought Album a few months ago and just haven't been motivated to start tagging all my stuff. Now I have PSE3, too, so I'm wondering which one is easier/better.

When I searched for an Album product I found the Adobe product very good, I suppose it will depend on if you use PSE3 as your main editor as if so it will make sense to use it. I have almost 7,000 photos cataloged and tagged in Photo-shop Album and have been please with both the ease if use and the search facilities.

DMurray - I would use the one that coordiantes with whatever program you use to scrap with and just stick with it.

Anyone know how to change the default of where the photos load into when you first import them? Drives me insane that I have to change it every time.

Another note with the organizer - once you have your photos in there, if you want to move them around on your hard drive you have to do it from within the program or else it "loses" them and you have to go find them for it. PITB!!!

To stop PSE from downloading your photos directly -- go to the Organizer screen; Edit>Preferences>Organize & Share>Camera or Card Reader At that point you want to UN-click "Use Adobe Photo Downloader..." Once you have done this the program will not directly download your photos. HTH

It used to drive me nuts too, BUT I've discovered that I can rename the whole batch of pics in PSE Organizer BEFORE I download them, which saves me a ton of time later.
In Windows, I can batch rename too, but the format is lame. A bunch of spaces - and () on the numbers. PSE just does the photo001 photo002 the way I like it.
Plus the photo preview in PSE Organizer is better than those tiny Windows thumbnails.
Try it out, learn to love it, it's great.

ah don't you know me any better than that? (amanda will vouch) i must resist change with every fiber of my being... we'll see! :D
(btw, should i decide to change, how can i disable the other windows viewer??) :D

yes, I am aware of that.

However, you climbed out onto the farthest limb you could find to start this company, that's a big change.

I think you only resist learning new technology because it takes your valuable commodity of time. Yet you spend a lot of time and brain power learning how to run this company and dealing with all sorts of other aspects of learning and changing and doing.

SO

in conclusion, I must insist it's all a matter of priority.

:D :D

So Emma have you trashed ACDSee for your Photos? That's where my decision lies because I've already tagged so much stuff with it.
