My dad has always wanted to learn how to edit photos. He has many great photos. He's won several prizes in photography contests. He's even sold one for a magazine cover once. The big problem is he is very old now and has a difficult time seeing. Is there a really simple program that he could use with just a few editing possibilities. One he could scan his photos into for storage. I would like to get him one for Father's Day if I can find a very simple one for him. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. He really needs to have something to do with his time. He's really good with computers too.

The Arcsoft programs that are sometimes bundled with cameras and scanners fit your needs. They can be purchased from the web as well. Here is the link to PhotoImpression (http://www.arcsoft.com/en/products/photoimpression/).

I used earlier versions of this program before I moved on to more advanced programs. It can do a lot manually, but it has lots of automatic commands as well. And it is a lot more intuitive than the Adobe products or PSP.

PhotoImpression is very affordable. They have another program that is more expensive and which does more, but I think this one is what you will want. If you go to the page I linked and hit screenshots you will see how they expect you to use the product. All the hard stuff is automatic.

I have another question, hummingbird and please, perhaps you could point me into the right direction. I noticed many people here have a link to their camera, like Canon or Nikon. I am not very experienced with cameras and have no idea what to buy. Right now I have a Nikon Coolpix 4500, and I realize I should be upgrading.
Please, do you have any suggestions for me?

I have another question, but will post it separately.
Thank you so much.

i loved my coolpix! served me well for years! you don't need to upgrade unless you have a reason. (don't let those signatures get you!) but if you just want to upgrade, there's lots of help in the photography forum. they helped me choose!

Margie, thank you. What kind of camera did you end up getting?
I shall go into the photo Forum and see if they can help me. And yes, you are right, all these blinkies with cameras makes me feel that my camera is useless........in a way it is distracting and maybe also .....oh well. I have been told for years to keep my opinions to myself, hahaha........
