Stringing charms together

Hi everyone! Could someone please tell me how to create a string so that I can string a couple of alphabet charms together to spell a word? How do I create the string (thickness, texture, color, etc...), and then get it to look like it's being threaded through the charms? I'm working in DIP9. Thanks for any help!

You can use the photostroke (use the rope or chain or something) to draw your chain. Then put your charms on top and use your transparency brush set at 100% and erase the parts of the charm (or the chain, your choice) to make it look like the charms are hanging.

Wow - did not even know what photo stroke was! OK - I tried it, but it automatically makes a frame around my canvas. I don't see any option to make just a line??

OK - I just figured it out. I was doing Edges>photostroke instead of going under Effects>paintbrush>photostroke. I learn something new everyday!
